Twitter Now Supports Line Breaks in Tweets

Twitter added support for line breaks Wednesday, a new feature that lets you spread your 140 character message over several different lines.

Supported on Twitter.com, as well as through Twitter’s official mobile app, the feature can be used to spread out a few different lines of text, or even to spread out a single word, one letter at a time.

Line breaks currently aren't supported on most third-party Twitter clients we've looked at, nor are they supported in embedded tweets.

While perfect for social media poets, the feature looks like something that could also get pretty obnoxious, especially if someone in your feed takes the one letter at a time approach that Twitter did in its announcement tweet.

What do you think of Twitter adding support for line breaks in tweets? How do you see the feature being used? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
