Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I have been reading this magazine for a decade and a devoted subscriber for about eight years. The reporting gives a great balance that is not often captured by U.S. sources. Of the magazines I have read, The Economist has seemed to offer the most in terms of details and breadth of stories. I bore of seeing only pictures or reading articles that are empty of insightful commentaries. The writing quality is great here. I use it as a first source for keeping me updated about major international and science news stories. We don't always get great coverage on this side of the pond in terms of international events and sentiment so I appreciate the magazine's frankness (even if I don't always agree with the opinions or endorsements).
My major qualm (and kudos to Amazon) is that the subscription service is run terribly. The website needs an overall in its account section. I have had problems multiple times with my subscription being put on hold because I was traveling and placed a stop on my mail or some other excuse. My online account often gets disconnected from my print subscription (not quite sure how!). I dread each time I have to call or email The Economist. Although the online account info may not be solved I hope the subscription with Amazon will fix my print problems (and was quite ready to change since my subscription was coming up). I don't understand how they used to change my address or say there was a problem with delivery and postpone delivery without contacting me. I am more than willing to give Amazon the chance to manage my magazine service. If it goes well, I'll keep using the auto-renewal. Fingers crossed!
BTW, my subscription was renewed VERY quickly. I have seen other reviewers complaining about the 4-6 week delay. Admittedly, those reports made me uneasy but my first magazine came in less than 2 weeks! Definitely acceptable!
This is my husband's favorite magazine. It is a British publication, and he likes to read about their take on things American, like politics, social issues, etc. It is rather expensive, and he had not renewed it when it expired. But he missed it a lot, so I was happy to be able to renew it through Amazon. It isn't any less expensive this way, but it was easier to do. I gave it to him as a Christmas present, and he looks forward to each issue.
Pretty much my only detailed news source these days. It is somewhat biased but it's obvious when they are giving an opinion. Still I enjoy the depth of the reporting, the international coverage, and the technology sections are interesting. I do think it's worth the significant investment for a subscription
This is the best magazine out there. Pick up a copy and see for yourself if it is for you.
However,i do NOT recommend buying from amazon due to these reasons:
*amazon does not include the digital media version. This is a big deal. The audio version is superb, and its an easy way to listen to the articles in your iphone or other device while you do something else. The iPad version is very convenient to read. I seldom use the paper version.
*amazon stopped providing the digital version without warning. This should be clearly announced in the amazon site. I received the digital version during the first year but not the next when it auto renewed.
*amazon does not have magazine customer service during the weekend. This is annoying.
*now my subscription is caught between three parties: amazon, the magazine itself and a third party company.
Save yourself time and buy directly from the magazine. Same price
I subscribed last year to The Economist as a gift to my brother, a military historian and voracious reader. He was thrilled to be getting the magazine, and has since informed me that he considers it "the single best source of information available in one place." He lauds the writing, the analysis, the breadth and depth of coverage on "those subjects you would expect and those you had no idea were significant." That's enough for me. I will renew for him every year, and am now taking out my own subscription!
I have been subscribing to the economist for at least 15 years - it is the most informative news magazine on the planet. The company that is fulfilling the magazine has some serious issues.
My subscription auto-renewed in April with the current subscription ending in July. For the past month I have been receiving two issues each week. In short - my 12 month renewal subscription will only be 10 months due to the overlap. I have reached out to the fulfiller and have received no responses.
I have had it with conservative verses liberal news reporting. I have always trusted The Economist to provide good journalism without a bias towards one side or another. I have not been disappointed.
