Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You're using Microsoft SQL Server 2014.

  • You run a SQL Server Backup job for database files that are stored directly in Azure Storage.

  • A network failure occurs.

In this scenario, the backup fails and generates error 3203.

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server 2014:
