Cost is still a major factor when selecting a location for IT workloads. Customer datacenter cost is mainly determined by software license and the capital and operating expenses associated with AI infrastructure. The increase in license cost and uncertainty due to the recent acquisition of VMware is a recurring theme.  You can reduce and lock costs by moving IT resources to Azure. Once in Azure, you have access to AI services and expert advice at optimal cost. The move will also enable you to meet or exceed your climate goals through the sustainability measures adopted in Azure.

Cost optimization without compromises.

During Microsoft Build, we continue to show our commitment to cost optimization by highlighting Azure Migrate features that provide deeper insights while helping you move and manage new workloads. Benefit from the secure and powerful capabilities of Azure and Microsoft’s deep expertise, by moving with Azure Migrate. Azure Migrate is Microsoft’s free hub for migrating and modernizing in Azure. It provides discovery, assessment, business case analysis, planning, migration, and modernization capabilities in a consistent manner across workloads. All this while allowing you to run and monitor the proceedings from a single, secure portal. We are excited to share these new Azure Migrate updates:

  • Cost-effective Linux migrations: Microsoft is announcing support in Azure Migrate for Azure Hybrid Benefits (AHuB) during assessments and business cases for Linux workloads. This capability will provide higher savings for RHEL and SLES Linux workloads moving to Azure through Azure Migrate. Please see this brief demo video for details on how AHuB will help reduce your costs in Azure.
  • Envision cost and check the readiness of your SAP workloads: Now you can import your SAP system inventory using a simple excel template (csv) and get a comprehensive assessment report with Azure sizing recommendations, cost estimates, and compatibility analysis for running your SAP workloads on Azure.

  • Coming soon!  On-premises extension for VMware workloads: Microsoft understands that some workloads requiring near real-time response may stay on-premises. For Windows and Linux virtual machines (VM) running on VMware, we will soon have a feature which will allow you to easily migrate VM’s from vCenter to the latest feature release of our on-premises hyper-converged platform called Azure Stack HCI.
