How to disable notifications - 'Microsoft Edge will restart in XX hours'
This is driving me nuts. Every couple or few days I get a popup that won't go away unless I click on it. It says: "MICROSOFT EDGE WILL RESTART IN XX HOURS" "To apply updates required by your organization, restart Microsoft Edge" I shut down my computer every single night. These notifications are not necessary. I can understand if Edge has been open for longer than one day, but that is not happening. MAKE THESE DARN NOTIFICATIONS GO AWAY, PLEASE. 🙂PerplextedEdge1940Nov 07, 2024Copper Contributor4.7KViews0likes3CommentsEdge prompts users that it is out of date when a target version is set in Intune
Hello, We are using the target channel override and target version policies in Intune to control when our users receive Edge updates. Our target version is currently 128.0.2739.42. Despite this, Edge is showing an update notification to our users. When they click on it in the menu, they get a message that says "Microsoft Edge couldn't update to the latest version, so you're missing out on new features and security fixes." I looked through the log for Microsoft Edge Update, and at no point did it try to download and install a new Edge version. The only update it performed was for WebView2. I found this thread: Edge UpdatePolicy - Disable automatic updates leads to "Microsoft Edge is out of Date" - Microsoft Community Hub However, this registry value is set to INBX (Inbox, I guess?) in our environment. I couldn't find any documentation about what this means. I tried changing this to GCEU as described in the thread, but this did not change the behavior long term. The message initially goes away after a restart, but comes back some time later. We are intentionally controlling our update rollouts and do not want our users knowing or caring Edge is out of date. Does anyone know how to suppress these warnings? This kind of seems like a bug. Thanks! AndrewAndrewSAIFOct 30, 2024Iron Contributor374Views0likes3CommentsMicrosoft Edge: QuickView Feature
In Microsoft Edge v96, the QuickView feature was added and allows users to view Office files (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) on the web. Administrators can manage it using the QuickViewOfficeFilesEnabled policy - Microsoft Edge Browser Policy Documentation | Microsoft Docs (UPDATE) In Microsoft Edge Stable Channel Version 98.0.1108.50, we released an update to disable the QuickView feature for incompatible sites.Kelly_YOct 29, 2024Microsoft2.4KViews0likes4CommentsEdge Version 129.0.2792.79 (Official build) (64-bit) email Link Bug

MissyQ Any update on the fix for this? I have 85,000 hospital computers we want to switch from IE to Chromium Edge. However, this bug is still outstanding. When we set the New Tab Page Location is the Home Page URL we want users to be ABLE to change it. Instead it is enforced. When you set the NEW TAB Page Location URL in GPO - Default Recommended, it Enforces it so users cannot change it? That is NOT the point of Recommended. It should only be "let users change but set by default".lforbesOct 17, 2024Iron Contributor11KViews3likes26CommentsIntroduce use of paths and wildcards in Edge automatic profile switching
Having users with work accounts in different tenants I like to opt for the following feature requests on the automatic profile switching list in Edge: Give users the ability to use wildcards for website hosts. Any host within a domain will open the selected profile so it is not necessary to create and manage multiple websites on that list On the list allow paths in the website likelogin.microsoftonline.com/{tenantId}to automatically switch to the profile of the user that the tenant belongs toMarcel_SniederOct 16, 2024Copper Contributor138Views0likes0CommentsPolicy request for managing Edge Secure Network
Edge doesn't seem to feature enterprise policy support (at least through Group Policy or the Windows Registry) for disabling the Microsoft Edge Secure Network feature. Some environments performing network filtering might like to disable this feature, as this could interfere with filtering. Edge Secure Network can be found within the Settings menu > Privacy, search, and services > Security section.kirwan_safesurferOct 16, 2024Copper Contributor1KViews0likes5CommentsEnforcing the Edge browser to always login as Work profile on the Corporate owned computer.
Would it be possible to enforce and only allow the Microsoft Edge browser to log in and open as a Work Account instead of as a Personal account? Furthermore, disable the password wallet as our 3rd party plugin manages Privileged access as a password manager. As part of my corporate workstation configuration, I've configured hybrid Azure AD joining and managing it through Intune. My question is whether this policy enforcement can be done via Intune using a P1 license or by using the AD Group Policy. If yes, how can I proceed with the policy to enforce this?SystemEngineerOct 04, 2024Steel Contributor667Views0likes3CommentsCompose and Inline Compose feature disabled for Entra ID Edge profiles
Hello, Can anyone direct me to more information about why Compose and Inline Compose have been disabled in the Edge browser for profiles signed in to Entra ID accounts? Our users are receiving a message that says: "We're sorry! [Compose/Rewrite] is unavailable as we make Copilot compliant with Microsoft's Enterprise Compliance Standards" The only documentation I could find was on this page explaining the Rewrite feature, but it basically just mirrors the error message:Rewrite | Microsoft Edge It looks like compose features in Office desktop apps are still working for users with a Copilot license. We are concerned whether information previously entered into these prompts was not protected by Enterprise Compliance Standards. Thanks! Hello, with the latest update to 129.0.2792.52 Stable the Find-on-page sidebar feature got disabled completely. Now there's only the old and very limited pop-up box left for in page searches. Also all the flagsrelated to find-on-page are gone: edge://flags/#edge-sidebar-find-on-page edge://flags/#edge-find-on-page-filters edge://flags/#edge-related-matches-for-find-on-page We noticed that this happened on the other channels before (Beta, Dev and Canary) when they switched to version 129. The Find-on-page sidebar is a stand alone feature for chromium based browsers and we use it a lot for researches. Especially the list of find occurrences is a big enhancement for navigating through long texts. Can someone from the team please give information if theFind-on-page sidebar got finally deprecated or just temporarily disabled for experimenting and will be available in the future soon? Thanks in advance!Neon01Sep 23, 2024Steel Contributor364Views1like2Comments
