Using Edge stable 79.0.309.65 on Windows 10 1809 and 1909.
Pinning Edge to the task bar via start menu (More -> Pin to taskbar) does not seem to work correctly. The resulting task bar icon does not activate when launching Edge. Instead a new task bar icon is created, causing Edge to appear twice on the task bar.
We'd like to add Edge to the task bar via Import-StartMenuLayout, we can't do that if it keeps working this way.
