Refresh Enterprise Mode Site List

Iron Contributor

If there is a new version of the Enterprise Mode Site List (XML) available, how is the update process in Edge C to that? In MSIE we had to wait 65 seconds after start of MSIE and in Edge there is an "Force Update" button. But how to refresh in Edge C?

After talking with support they told me this was a known issue with Edge version 103.0.1264.37. Updating to the latest version of Edge should resolve it and prevent it from reoccurring. I confirmed after updating to version 103.0.1264.49 my IE mode remained loaded without any errors or having to restart Edge.
than you so much. It looks like i have the latest version ...49. Is there a way to find out when this was updated?

ist there a way to force EDGE to update the Site List.xml  throug cmd? (Command Processor Software)

This would be a easy way to get EDGE update the list and build a (for example) .bat file and let this run on logon.

Reviving this thread.  Anyone have any luck getting this to work w/o having to manually "Force update"?

I'm on the latest version of Edge, Version 108.0.1462.76, and it's doing what the OP described.  It doesn't remember the site list after closing an Edge session.

I did a workaround with a .bat file where the edge sitelist settings will be openend and the few keyboard steps to the update button one after another will be send to update the list and then the settings will be closed. it works for me pretty well and i added this to the autostart settings.  the only thing is that u have to keep edge running after u ran the .bat file. if u close it u have to run the file again.

for this u have to set the sitelist in the registry.

This fixed my issue...

In gpedit, if there is no Admin Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft Edge path then you need to install the latest MS Edge Policy templates as described here,

Hi @Kelly_Y,

here May 2024 and still having this issue with recent versions.
Only clicking edge://compat/enterprise allows to not close Edge to get to compatibility mode.
This is clearly not a usable solution for an enterprise.
Edge : 125.0.25.35.51
IE : 11.0.19041.1566
Windows 10 : 20H2 build 19042.2965

Thank you for your help.
Getting the same, version has been updated 3 times in the last week, and I was still on version 17 of 20 without a forced update

@RyanE94 Hi - What version of Microsoft Edge are you using?  Did the issue start happening after a specific Microsoft Edge update?  Let me know if you have any other information that would be helpful to try and investigate.  Thanks!

Hi Kelly,
The version of Edge is the following: 125.0.2535.51
For my part, we deliberately blocked the version of Windows 10 1809 on our VDI, to keep Internet Explorer (business application compatibility), and not move to Edge Chromium.
Since then, for corporate security reasons, we've opted to ugrade to Windows 10 20H2 (then 22H2 shortly) with the latest versions of Edge Chromium (updated weekly).
Currently 125.0.2535.51, soon 125.0.2535.67
Would you have an alternative way of benefiting from Refresh Enterprise Mode Site List without having Edge Chromium running in the background for 65 seconds and without clicking on the Force Update button?
Thank you in advance for your help.

@John_Dodo I'm not exactly sure how IE mode is set up in your environment.  If you are using Cloud Site List Management for IE mode there is some documentation here: Cloud Site List Management for Internet Explorer (IE) mode" | Microsoft Learn

Or possibly this FAQ might help: Internet Explorer (IE) mode troubleshooting and FAQ | Microsoft Learn

Also, you can reach out to Support (https://support.serviceshub.microsoft.com/supportforbusiness) to help with any IE mode configuration issues.  Thanks!
