the keyboard does not appear

Copper Contributor

Hello,
On my Surface GO 2 with Windows 11, the keyboard doesn't appear when I use my stylus, but it does when I use my finger.
For example I open the notepad if I point in the text area with my stylus nothing happens if I use my finger the keyboard appears.
I've tested my stylus on another surface and it works fine.
I think that my surface thinks that a keyboard is connected (but this is not the case) because if in Settings-->Time and language--> Input--> Touch keyboard : in display touch keyboard I put "When no keyboard is attached" there it is not displayed at all even with my finger I have to put here "always" (and there is no choice of always in stylus management just never or when no physical keyboard is attached") In device manager in keyboard there is Standard keyboard PS/2 which always comes back even if I uninstall it.
thank you in advance

I've updated everything, drivers, firmware, windows 11. I reinstalled windows 11, but still the same problem...
I finally reinstalled windows 10 and now everything is ok (but I still have a standard PS/2 keyboard that appears in the device manager )....

@in windows 11 21h2 it's ok but in 22h2 no.

@Mbouali

Try this option of switching off touchpad?

Kindly inform me whether the stylus pen works after switching the keyboard on off from the image below -

Thank you for your answer.

I don't have acces to this option (i don't have keyboard at all for my surface) so I can't switch it off.

The problem appear when I install the KB5028185....

Please read everything very carefully.

Check the solution for the KB5028185 here -
Please try the following methods below.
If you have a third-party VPN or Antivirus installed, please try to temporarily uninstall it then check if the issue persists.

**Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

**Make sure Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer services are available and running.
Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: services.msc
Press Enter to open Services app
Double-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, right click then select Restart

Double-click Windows Update.
If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, right click then select Restart

**Reset Windows Update Components

If the issue still persists, please try performing an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while your personal files, settings and installed applications will not be removed.

**Few things to check on the PC
Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting
Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade
Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

Did you read the manual attached to the reply before??

Since you have not attached a keyboard and want to use a stylus pen - Unfortunately the Surface Laptop Go 2 does not support pen input.

I installed windows 11 21h1 from scratch, so no vpn or antivirus, no windows update problem and the pen works, I install the updates by windows update one by one and between each installation I restart and test the stylus, no worries it works.
As soon as I install KB5028185 or any later cumulative update, it doesn't work anymore....
Surface Laptop Go 2 supports pen input, but once KB5028185 no longer opens the keyboard, you must use your finger.

And it's not just the stylus, indeed if in Settings-->Time and language-->Input-->Touch keyboard: in display touch keyboard I put "When no keyboard is attached" there it does not show at all even with my finger, I have to put here "always"
