Remote App presenting the apps together as if it was in the Web client
I spun up several WVD instances in the lab without issue, both desktop and remote app worked as expected. When I spun up a production instance, and added even one Remote App (notepad), the apps do not behave like you would expect for a Remote App. They behave like you see in the HTML5 remote desktop client where it shows a box around the app with lots of white space, and all the apps float in there and do not appear like a local app would. Video of the issue: Screen Recording 2021-02-18... (getcloudapp.com) Anyone got ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it?Solved1KViews0likes2CommentsWVD Classic Cleanup
I played with WVD Classic previously, and now use WVD ARM. I thought I cleaned up all the classic bits, but one is still showing it's face when we plug in the feed into the Remote Desktop app, as it still shows up as a workspace with a single app (the original full desktop app that is created by default). I can't find it within Azure Resource Groups either, and since it's a Classic one it doesn't show up in the WVD arm blades. Any idea how to get rid of this workspace from Classic? I've poked around using get-rds* type commands which I believe is how you interface with Classic, and haven't found anything.4.2KViews0likes9CommentsEdge Profile Sync won't work with Azure AD account - "Sync isn't available right now"
Azure AD joined PC. Logged in with Azure AD account which is global admin for tenant. On-prem AD sync is working, write-back is enabled. ESR is enable in Azure AD. No matter what I try I cannot sync my Edge Profile using the Azure AD account. I get "Sync isn't available right now". I also have tried changing my password, no impact. Licensing is M365E3 which includes AzureAD P1 In edge://sync-internals, I see errors about "Error: GenerateCryptoErrorsForTypes@../../components/sync/driver/data_type_manager_impl.cc:42, cryptographer error was encountered:". Under "summary" it shows that Sync Feature Enabled = TRUE. Tried using Dev Edge and still no dice.Solved6.2KViews0likes10CommentsPartner Access to a Client's Admin Portal -> Disabling Multi-Factor Authentication
We're a MSP and havebeen granteddelegated access to our client's O365 tenant as their "partner of record". When accessing their admin center, using our ownpartner O365 credentials, everything works fine EXCEPT the option to manage MFA (the link in the Active User List at the bottom) is missing. If I login with an admin account that is part of their O365 Tenant, I can see the MFA link fine. It's only when using any of our accounts that are part of our company (which is their partner of record), is MFA is missing. Everything elseworks fine. Managing MFA is a pretty common support request. I'm trying to keep accountability for my support engineers by us using our own accounts vs us all logging in with their admin account (in which case there is no accountability). Is this by design or am I missing something?Best Practice for MSP managing client Hyper-V Servers
We're a MSP and most of our clientsservers have Hyper-V Servers (True Hyper-V Server; not a Windows Server with the role installed). Managing these systems has been a real challenge over the years for us (Using the Hyper-V Management Console from a machine other than the host). Most clients are SMB. 1 Hyper-V Host and 1 VM (The DC). As a result eachclient's Hyper-V Server isnot domain joined. Most areHyper-V Server 2012 R2; Some are Hyper-V Server 2016. The machines we try to support from (our own laptops when we're onsite) and/or a BDR appliance we leave onsite are both Windows 10 Pro. Our laptops are domain joined to OUR (the MSP) domain. The BDR appliances on-site at each client are NOT domain joined (to ours, or the clients) for security reasons to keep the backups protected ifransomware hits. Is there no clean way for us to use the Hyper-V Management Console on our laptop's or the BDR easily? This is like pulling teeth each time we need to use this and it's always slowing us down when we need to use it the most. It seems to have got worse with Windows 10 and Server 2016 in therequirements tomanage these machines when we're NOT on the same domain. It seems the process varies depending on which OS the host is, which OS themachine we want tomanage from is, if domain/workgroup,and amyriad of other settings. We have no such problems managing VMWare Hosts or Xen Hosts;managing those hypervisors isCAKE simple andtakesseconds to engage regardless ofthe machine I'm connecting from. We're proficient in doing stuff via powershell, so we often times use that instead to avoid this fiasco, but certain things MUST be done via the GUI (Like troubleshooting failed VM boots etc). I opened a case with MS Partner Support, and it's beenalmost a month and they've not answered me with anything of substance, other than to use HVRemote (which we're aware of, but doesn't help in Windows 10/Server 2016 era with delegated credentials and/or CredSSP). I find it impossible to believethere is no best practice here for doing this and perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong spots. It's reached the pointthat we've decided toabandon Hyper-V as our Hypervisor of choice if we can't get this sorted which sucks because I otherwise like Hyper-V. Anyone help a brother out here?2.6KViews0likes5Comments
