Noor Was Here
A downloadable game for Windows
On Noor's 28th birthday a forest fire threatens to destroy her childhood home. She hopes to retrieve a memory capsule written to herself at seven years old, before the letter, and the house it belongs to, burns to the ground.
(Given its ambitious scope, this serves more as a demo than a finished product. That being said, it should be fully playable and we would love to hear feedback to develop it further <3)
Made using Godot in one week for the Brackeys Game Jam 2024.2
HOW TO PLAY
Match the photos to your environment to visit scenes from your past self. This might also allow you to access some previously inaccessible areas! If you get stuck, there is a walkthrough below.
CONTROLS
- WASD - move
- F - raise / lower photo
- E and Q - cycle through photos
- Left Mouse - interact / enter photo
- Space - jump
WALKTHROUGH (spoilers)
- You can not enter / exit photos during dialogue!
- If you exit a photo into a collider (e.g. the stairs or in a doorway), you might get stuck. Unfortunately there is currently no unstuck feature and you will have to restart :(
- The first photo (front yard) does not do anything, it only serves as an example. If you raise the photo (F) and match it to the scene by moving around (WASD and mouse), an "Enter photo" prompt should appear. You can then enter the photo (left mouse button) and walk around. You can exit the photo by lowering it (F).
- Walk to the back of the house. Cycle through the photos (Q or E) until you find the one with Noor sitting at the back door. Match the photo to the back door to enter it. Inside the photo scene enter the house, and after the dialogue is complete, exit the photo while still inside the house to gain access to the house in the real world.
- Match the picture with Noor and Agathe sitting in a room with the room next to the stairs. Inside that room you will find a new photo.
- Match the picture with Noor, her mother, and Agathe sitting at the table in the living room (found in the previous step) to allow you to go up the stairs.
- Match the photo of the cupboard with the upstairs cupboard and open the cupboard doors to open them in the real world.
- Move the TV (left click) from the cupboard in the real world (see previous step) onto the TV stand in the upstairs hall.
- Match the picture with the TV to the TV area upstairs, open the door to Noor's bedroom which is now ajar.
- Match the picture of Noor sleeping in her bed in the upstairs bedroom.
- When the dialogue ends, the time capsule will be lit up, interact with it to continue. After this the light switch will be lit up, which you can also interact with. Pick up the photo that appears in the lit room.
- Pick up the forest picture from the downstairs living room if you have not done this yet.
- Match the downstairs front door with the picture of Nora's mother dragging her out of the house (you can jump down the stairs next to the rubble). This allows you to go outside.
- Match the forest photo with the forest area behind the house (you have to be quite close to the house). There you will find the final picture.
- Match the shed picture by looking towards the house from the forest. This allows you to enter the shed next to the house where you can interact with the cupboard.
- Exit the photo to play the final sequence!

Great cconcept with immersive and engaging gameplay. The voice acting is fantastic, and the script is equally captivating.
