Umar Aziz
Umar Abdul Aziz is a lit major writer, performer, teacher and organizer
Umar is based in Klang Valley, collaborating and performing spoken word, a slam champ in Johor, placing top 3 at the Straits slam and top 6 in Malaysia's first National Poetry Slam. He also is working with a group of poets to develop Baloh! A poetry debate format for spoken word poets, a reply to berbalas pantun, running parallels with Balagtasan.
A MicJacker, he’s featured at various shows across malaysia like Onde-onde, Malam Sayu Berpuisi KLPAC, Jack It and more, performing Chaos based spoken word and improvising with musicians, dancers and other Makhluk Seni.
From multi-disciplinary art showcases (M.A.T.i), art gatherings (Perjumpaan Makhluk Seni) he is now curating spoken word shows for causes and organizations.
He hopes to see to it that a variety of events take place wherever he can reach through Makhluk Seni. He’s also a quarter of Poets Passport MY & Main Research and Development budding chef at Projek Dapur Umar, home of Durian Butter Chicken and other various recipes.
