  2. Hello,

I purchased a Multilingual CMS license last year and unfortunately the license expired a few weeks ago (July 31, 2024).
I did not have the opportunity at this time to renew the license (I was away from my office).

On the renew notification email I received at that time, I was informed that I could renew the license at 25% off the original price.

Today I can’t get this to work and the 25% off is no longer available, even if I click on the link in the mail.
I don’t want to buy a new license but renew mine.

    Please can you help ?

  3. Bonjour, je souhaite désinstaller WPML définitivement de mon site, je rencontre des problèmes de conflit de plugin trop souvent.
    Comment faire ?
    Merci pour votre réponse,

  4. Hello, I would like to translate my site on several different domains with WPML. But after reading your documentation and contacting my hosting provider, he told me “The ALIAS system is not possible with us, unfortunately.” What can I do?

    • Hello Sacha,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
I consulted your case with one our our developer who specialises in this topic. Here’s what he says:

First all of that reply from the hosting company is a bit vague.

When talking about domains we have several possibilities of domains being defined.
In a DNS server we have these records:
      – we have « CNAME » (which is basically an alias)
      – we « A » host declaration (which is not an alias)
in Apache (or Nginx or any other server basically) we have these records:
      – We have hostname record – which is normally the main record
      – We have alias record – usually assigned to the main record.

The trick is that in DNS you can have multiple « CNAME » or « A » records. So if « CNAME » is not allowed, create « A » record.
In Apache – we can have multiple different configurations without an alias – all pointing to the same folder, so you can forego the need for an alias to the hostname.

We cannot fix this on our site, as this is related to server architecture and willingness of the hosting to help – provided that they don’t have management solution like Cpanel. If they have a solution like Cpanel or similar, there you should be able to define the hosts normally by yourself (for some hostings this is an additionally paid option).

So in essence all this is beyond our control to make it work in a different fashion.

You can try again with your hosting company when providing them with those details.
If this doesn’t help, you can consider using languages in subfolders or – if using domains for languages is a must-have for you, you can consider changing the hosting as they are clearly not willing to help you.

  5. >>>> Hello, here is the answer from my host, is this a reliable solution or not? Thanks in advance

    Hello,

It’s possible to configure CNAMEs on our hosting packages. However, CNAMEs and aliases don’t work in exactly the same way, and CNAMEs have additional limitations to aliases.

In your case, you want your site to redirect to multiple domains, depending on the site’s language. As a result, a CNAME would not be functional, as it would not be possible to configure the same CNAME to several different domains. This is one of the differences between a CNAME and an alias.

It will then be possible to attempt to configure the domains on the same folder as recommended by WPML services, hosting being under apache.
I assume that the redirections of the various languages to the correct domain are then managed by a .htaccess file. We can configure this if necessary, but we’d have to check with WPML what type of .htaccess configuration is recommended for this operation.

    Best regards,
    Eymeric

    • After consulting your comment with our domain expert:
We think (or at least we assume) that the hosting is trying to tell us is that they can do only the DNS configuration, but not the httpd (Apache or Nginx) configuration.

This usually means that the web server would not know of the other domain name and will probably do a redirect to the defined domain (the one that it knows).
In that kind of setup, WPML will not function properly as the redirect will probably be handled by the web server itself.

Different domain per language functionality and setup is not linked to any .htaccess (if the server is Apache) or other method for adding rewrite rules, different from the default WordPress rewrite rules that are normally applied when you have a hosting which supports WordPress.
