The owner of Knebworth Park says he remains optimistic that Oasis will return, despite the band confirming publicly that the venue would not feature on their forthcoming comeback tour.

The band played two era-defining nights at the Hertfordshire estate to 250,000 people in August 1996.

On Wednesday, the band announced on X that there were no UK dates planned beyond the 2025 stadium tour, saying: "Contrary to reports in some UK tabloid media today, Oasis will not be playing Knebworth Park in the future."

But the owner of Knebworth House, Henry Lytton Cobbold, said: "They have a history of doing what the people want, and what the people want is Knebworth 2026."

He added: "Let's see how it goes. Every person I've met would love to see a 30th anniversary at Knebworth."

Since 1974, the stately home near Stevenage has hosted performances by acts including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Queen.

The success of the 1996 Oasis shows prompted a live album and a 2021 documentary film, Oasis Knebworth, which was released in cinemas.

Lord Cobbold has invited the newly re-formed band to play the venue again to mark the 30th anniversary of their previous visit.

"Let's see if they can stay mates, it's a long time in Oasis years, once we've overcome that challenge, let's see what happens," Lord Cobbold added.

"If Oasis doesn't come back in 2026, they'll come back in 2036. It will happen one day, we're not going anywhere."
