Russell Crowe’s 2024 box office bust Land of Bad is one of the new movies to debut on Netflix this week.

According to Netflix, the action thriller will begin streaming on Thursday.

The Numbers reported that Land of Bad opened in 1,120 theaters on February 16 and ended its theatrical run with $4.62 million at the domestic box office and $1.89 million in international ticket sales for a final worldwide tally of $6.5 million.

IMDb reported that Land of Bad had an estimated production budget of $25 million before prints and advertising. However, The Movie Database based reported that Land of Bad—which also stars Liam Hemsworth—had an $18 million production budget before its P&A spend.

The logline for Land of Bad reads, “A covert Special Forces operation in the South Philippines spirals into a brutal 48-hour battle for survival. When an elite extraction team is ambushed deep in enemy territory, rookie officer Kinney (Hemsworth) is left outnumbered but determined to leave no man behind.

“With an air strike closing in, Kinney's only hope hinges on the guidance of Air Force drone pilot Reaper (Crowe), navigating unknowable danger where every move could be their last.”

Other Movies New on Netflix This Week

‘Find Me Falling’ (2024)

Jazz great Harry Connick Jr. stars in the music-themed comedy romance Find Me Falling as John Allman, an aging rock star whose latest album is a flop.

John’s life is re-energized, though, when he takes some time away from the music business and moves to the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean.

A Netflix original movie, Find Me Falling—also starring Agni Scott—premieres on the streaming service on Friday.

Also new on Netflix this week is the 2018 romantic drama Midnight Sun starring Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

The movie debuts on the streamer on Monday, as well as the 2023 animated musical comedy Trolls Band Together, starring the voices of Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick.

On Tuesday, parts two and three of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy—2017’s Fifty Shades Darker and 2018 ’s Fifty Shades Free—join the original film on Netflix. Fifty Shades of Grey debuted on the streamer in June.

Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Free have the unenviable distinction of being two of the worst-reviewed movies to join Netflix this month. The trilogy tracks the lurid love affair between Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) after the tortured billionaire introduces the college newspaper reporter to his world of BDSM.

On Friday, the Netflix original documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story premieres on the streaming service. The documentary tracks an acrobatic couple who travel to Malaysia to daringly climb a 118-story megatall skyscraper.
