K-State Alerts
K-State Alerts is the university's emergency notification system. It communicates time-critical emergency information that immediately impacts our campuses. This could be related to weather, campus operations, closures or other emergencies. Only authorized personnel may send K-State Alerts.
Distribution channels
- Text messages (quickest way to receive emergency information)
- E-mails to all K-State domain accounts
- Automated phone calls
- Digital signage
- Alert beacons (wall-mounted units in various buildings on our three campuses that use sirens, flashing strobe lights and digital text)
- Police public address systems
- Social platforms Facebook and X
- Rave Guardian mobile app - seamlessly integrated into K-State Alerts, offering the K-State community direct access to K-State police and various resources.
Receiving K-State Alerts
- K-State students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled in K-State Alerts email and text messages. Text messages will come from 67283, 226787, 77295 or 78015. Please save these numbers to your phone so that you will recognize them when messages are sent. Some smaller carriers do not support short-code messaging. For these carriers, you will receive messages from the domain getrave.com.
- Everyone is assigned a campus location to receive alerts targeted to their designated campus as indicated in KSIS or HRIS.
Updating contact information
To review your preferred and mobile phone numbers, students can confirm orupdate information in KSIS or employees can review and update information in HRIS.
Managing K-State Alerts
To manage your notification settings, visit the K-State Alerts online portal. Sign in to the portal to do the following:
-
- Review, remove or add phone numbers and email addresses. You may have a maximum of three mobile numbers, three landline phone numbers and three email addresses.
- Sign up for notifications for other campuses, if desired (Manhattan, Olathe or Salina).
If you need assistance, see the step by step guide to updating your settings.
Text alerts are one of the quickest ways to receive emergency information and K-Staters are strongly encouraged to remain subscribed. If you do not want to receive K-State alerts via text, reply STOP if you receive a future text alert. NOTE: You may not unsubscribe from email alerts.

K-State visitors can receive text messages about emergency situations at all three campuses by texting KSTATEVISITOR to 67283. There is no charge for this service.
