Public sector

“On the one hand, technologies evolve rapidly, and hardware quickly becomes obsolete. On the other hand, a public entity does not have the budget to regularly upgrade its machines or recruit experienced system administrators. The salary expectations are high due to the shortage of their skills in the IT sector – so outsourcing is the best solution.”

David Larose, CIO, Mairie de Drancy

Finance

Your questions answered

How does the Private Cloud work?

Private cloud design is primarily based on multiple dedicated physical machines. These machines are equipped with a software layer that enables the administrator to manage the infrastructure, data, cloud platform and applications. The admin also has full control over resource usage, integration, and data flow management. They can also set up an automation process to guarantee the scalability of their infrastructure – by ordering additional hosts, for example.

What is the difference between public and private cloud?

The main difference between the two types of cloud is the allocation of resources to your project. With a private cloud, you get a dedicated infrastructure with resources fully allocated to you. This means our Hosted Private Cloud users have their own cloud infrastructure, hosted and managed by our teams. This solution also gives them total control over the data stored on it.

Public cloud infrastructures can be Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). With our Public Cloud solution, you can get the flexibility of on-demand resources, and adjust your resource usage to fit your needs.

There are pros and cons to every type of cloud, so it is important to ensure that you evaluate your requirements before you get started.

What is a hybrid cloud?

A hybrid cloud is a model made up of several types of cloud and bare-metal solutions. For some services, you can pair your Hosted Private Cloud with a Public Cloud instance and/or dedicated server. This means you can create complex, custom architectures, such as information systems. It is a flexible solution that adapts to more specific needs.

What is Hosted Private Cloud?

The Hosted Private Cloud solution brings together OVHcloud’s various private cloud solutions. These consist of dedicated cloud infrastructures, which are automatically deployed. They are flexible and customisable, offering a very high level of service and security to all professionals.

Why choose Hosted Private Cloud?

You get high availability for your IT services. Hosted Private Cloud offers a service level agreement (SLA) of at least 99.9%.

With a private cloud solution, you get a 100% dedicated, ready-to-use infrastructure in just one hour. This service gives you more flexibility and scalability to handle large workloads – since at any time, you can add more resources.

Sensitive data hosted on a Hosted Private Cloud infrastructure is based on strictly dedicated physical machines, hosted in our certified datacentres.

OVHcloud’s Hosted Private Cloud solution gives you the technological support you need to ensure that your cloud projects are a success.

How do I choose a Hosted Private Cloud solution?

You can choose a solution that suits the type of infrastructure you already have in your environments, or with other cloud providers. Assess your resource, scalability and budget requirements in advance. It is worth noting that you can build a hybrid infrastructure with our Private Cloud, Public Cloud and bare metal solutions. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our sales team for further information.

Is this solution considered a cloud computing product?

Yes. However, there are important differences between public-cloud and private-cloud computing solutions. The first offers shared hardware resources, and is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. On the other hand, our Hosted Private Cloud solution provides you with a 100% dedicated infrastructure. It also offers a great deal of flexibility, by allocating additional resources or hosts on demand.
