Simplified and centralised management of your Kubernetes clusters
Simplify the deployment, management, and continuous improvement of your containerised applications in a Kubernetes environment. This service simplifies multi-cluster management in Kubernetes, particularly when using multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
It can save you time and money, allowing you and your team to focus on developing containerised applications.
Fully managed by OVHcloud
OVHcloud deploys, hosts and maintains all the components needed for Rancher to work. You can free yourself from the hassle of managing and maintaining it, while also enjoying all its features.
Trusted Platform
This service stems from a partnership between two major European cloud and cloud-native technology providers: OVHcloud and SUSE. Our mission is to offer you a trusted platform for managing your multi-cluster containerised applications regardless of where your Kubernetes clusters are hosted (on-premises, multi-cloud, hybrid). Support is jointly provided by OVHcloud and Rancher’s publisher SUSE.
Rancher Ecosystem
Get all the features of Rancher to unify and simplify the management of your Kubernetes clusters, as well as the different deployment types. This applies to any managed Kubernetes cluster (managed by OVHcloud or any other provider), self-managed via Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE), or K3s on your chosen infrastructure.
Certified Kubernetes Service Provider
Our Professional Services teams are certified by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and can help you deploy, secure and scale your containerised workloads on Kubernetes.

Use cases
Manage multiple Kubernetes clusters
This service centralises the management of all your Kubernetes clusters, including user authentication, security policy implementation, and full lifecycle management of all your Kubernetes clusters (deployment, maintenance, etc.).
Anywhere in the cloud
With this service, you can manage all your Kubernetes clusters autonomously, wherever they are, on-premises (virtual or physical hardware), via a virtualisation infrastructure (e.g., vSphere), in a hybrid cloud, and particularly in a multi-cloud (at OVHcloud, or with any other provider).
Developing containerised applications
Focus on developing your containerised applications by relying on a user-friendly graphical interface and a catalogue of services maintained and integrated by OVHcloud, SUSE and the Community.

Features
Functionality
Multi-cluster management
This service allows you to manage multiple Kubernetes clusters centrally, freeing you from the hassles of managing them individually and manually.
User-friendly interface
Thanks to its clear user interface, you can easily manage your containerised applications and deployments.
Lifecycle management
This service automates the lifecycle management of your Kubernetes clusters, which, as a result, simplifies updates, version upgrades, and automatic application scaling.
Application Catalogue
You get access to a catalogue of pre-configured and ready-to-use applications.
Improved security
With security policy, access and permissions management, and user authentication, this service ensures the security of your containerised applications.
Built-in observability
This service centralises the observability of your clusters and services, which allows you to improve monitoring and identify issues faster.
Using RKE2 or K3s
You can deploy RKE2 (Rancher Kubernetes Engine 2) or K3s, which are lightweight Kubernetes solutions, and ideal for use cases such as IoT, test environments or lightweight infrastructure.
Multi-cloud approach
Centralise and simplify the management of your managed Kubernetes clusters, wherever they are, regardless of the cloud provider.
Supported deployment modes
Create or attach OVHcloud Managed Kubernetes Service clusters
Get the most out of our managed clusters, which come with automatic scaling and are fully integrated into the Public Cloud ecosystem.
Create and manage your clusters on OVHcloud Public Cloud IaaS.
With RKE2, you get total freedom: several available CNIs (Cluster Network Interface), flexible control plane sizing, etc.
Create and manage your clusters on your machines, wherever they are
With Virtual machines or Bare Metal dedicated servers in the cloud or on-premises, you can do anything!
Create and manage your clusters on VMware vSphere or other supported HCI (hyperconverged infrastructure)
Rancher uses the APIs in your virtualisation suite to provision the IaaS you need, in a private cloud or on-premises.
Create or attach managed clusters in multi-cloud
Rancher is particularly compatible with AWS EKS or Azure AKS.
Create or manage clusters on other cloud services
Rancher automatically provisions the infrastructure, and supports provisioning for AWS EC2 and Azure Compute.
Register your clusters or IaaS
You can use any Rancher-supported driver, or attach a cluster with a simple kubeconfig file.
Centralise all your clusters!
You can incorporate all the other scenarios within the same Managed Rancher Service!
What is the difference between the Managed Rancher Service and the Managed Kubernetes Service?
The Managed Rancher Service makes it easy to manage multiple Kubernetes clusters, including those created with the Managed Kubernetes Service.
The Managed Kubernetes Service is a managed service for managing your containerised applications within the same Kubernetes cluster.
The two services are complementary, but one does not necessarily require the use of the other.
You can manually manage your Kubernetes clusters created with Managed Kubernetes without using Managed Rancher.
Alternatively, you can use the Managed Rancher Service to manage Kubernetes clusters other than those created with the Managed Kubernetes Service, such as Kubernetes clusters on OVHcloud Bare Metal servers, or with other cloud providers (on-premises or not).
What is the difference between the Managed Rancher Service and the Rancher solution offered by SUSE?
The Managed Rancher Service includes all of the solutions available in SUSE Rancher. You focus on your downstream clusters (clusters that host your business applications), while Rancher’s deployment, operational maintenance and security updates are carried out by OVHcloud.
OVHcloud has signed a support contract with SUSE, and is your single point of contact for supporting your Rancher platform.
Can I use the Managed Rancher Service to manage machines and/or clusters outside OVHcloud?
Yes. You can manage any Kubernetes cluster (from OVHcloud, other cloud providers, or on-premises) via the Managed Rancher Service.
