Customers are suing Liberty Bankers Insurance Group and its third-party vendor Landmark Admin, after the company announced a data breach that resulted in more than 800,000 customers’ private information being exposed. Full names, addresses, social security numbers, bank account numbers, medical information and more may have been stolen, according to Landmark’s announcement.   F-Secure Head of Threat Intelligence Laura Kankaala reiterates how no industry is safe from cyber attacks like these, and the repercussions on consumers can be vast:   “All companies today are IT companies – therefore none are safe from attacks that wreak havoc on IT systems, and the lives of those directly impacted by a data breach. Consumers need to be able to trust the services they are using, because ultimately its them who will pay the price when their data is stolen.    For any consumers directly impacted by this breach, we'd recommend monitoring your information such as bank statements, credit reports and accounts for any unusual activities. You should also be extra aware of scam attempts via email, sms, phone, or other channels. Finally, always ensure you use strong passwords and 2FA wherever possible." To tackle this pervasive issue, F-Secure developed the Scam Tactics & Techniques Framework—a systematic breakdown of how modern online scams work. Today we celebrate Diwali at our Helsinki & Bengaluru offices 💫 Priyanka Shrivastava (She/Her), who is working as a P&C Project Manager in Helsinki, shared her thoughts on the festival of lights: "As I reflect on my 12 years in Finland, Diwali always brings back a flood of warm childhood memories from India. This Festival of Lights, celebrating Lord Rama’s return after 14 years in exile, is a time of togetherness, joy, and reflection. Even though I’m miles away from home, I try to recreate the magic of Diwali in my own way, right here in Finland. At home, I prepare traditional Indian delicacies and snacks, just like we did during my childhood. I want my children to experience the beauty of this festival — the love, the prosperity, and the deeper meaning behind the rituals. For me, Diwali is not just a celebration but a way to pass on the values and traditions that I hold dear. Beyond our home, our local community comes together to celebrate Diwali with cultural performances, delicious food, warm connections, and fireworks. No matter where in the world I am, Diwali remains a celebration of light, love, and connection. I cherish the chance to create new memories with my family here in Finland while honoring the old." Last Friday, our team had the pleasure of joining the Hive Helsinki community to celebrate the annual Hive Hexagon Gala. 🎉 The gala was a great chance to celebrate the success of the community and see creative student projects on display. We also hosted a Capture the Flag challenge using F-Secure's TOTAL mobile app for the participants, that had been specially coded for the occasion by our in-house Quality Engineers and proud Hive alumni ⁠Rori and ⁠Aleksandr. Thank you to everyone who took part, and congratulations to the winning team: Helmi, Monika, and Peter! They tackled the challenge like pros, and their team name, “Find all the Flags,” couldn’t have been more fitting. 👏 Special thanks to Hive Hexagon for organizing such a fun gala, and to everyone who stopped by to say hi!

Recently launched on iOS as part of F-Secure Total, with Android coming soon, this AI can also expand to protect other types of messages and emails.
