💡 Design thinking is more than just a process—it’s a mindset. One that fosters innovation through user-centered problem-solving. To get the most out of your design thinking workshops, follow these six rules: 1. Quantity over quality: focus on generating as many ideas as possible—the more ideas the better! 2. Defer judgment: save evaluation for later stages 3. Embrace wild ideas: don’t be afraid of out-of-the-box ideas even if they aren’t practical 4. Fail fast, cheap, and often: testing and failing early helps minimize risk 5. Show, don’t tell: showing your ideas helps communicate them more effectively than simply explaining 6. Build on others’ ideas: great design is a team effort!! For a deeper dive into these principles, check out Tim Neusesser's video and see how you can incorporate these rules into your next workshop. 👉 Watch the full video here: https://bit.ly/4ezWaHC Or explore design thinking further by checking out our: Design Thinking Study Guide: https://bit.ly/3THktvc Course - Design Thinking Essentials: https://bit.ly/47GWLoE #DesignThinking #UXDesign #Innovation #Collaboration #Ideation #UserCenteredDesign #FailFast #Teamwork #CreativeProcess #UXWorkshops

Are your icons actually helpful… or are they just plain confusing to your users? Effective icons boost usability by making functionality clear. But poor icons can leave users puzzled asking themselves, “What does that mean?” In her latest article, Kate Kaplan goes over two key factors for icon usability: 1️⃣ Recognizability: Can users identify the shape or symbol that the icon depicts?(Does the star look like a star?) 2️⃣ Interpretation: What meaning do users assign to the icon’s shape or symbol within a given context? That star icon could mean favorites, ratings, or something else entirely—context matters! How can you improve icon usability? Test for both recognition and interpretation early in the design process. Don’t assume users will understand just because you do! We’ve all been on an FAQ page looking for an answer to a question we have about a product or service. From questions like: When does my membership renew? How long does international shipping take? How do I delete my account? FAQs can be a powerful tool to deliver a lot of value not only to your website visitors but also to your organization…when used and designed correctly. They aren’t just a quick fix for poorly designed interfaces; they’re an opportunity to deliver real value and address user concerns. We have 5 tips for you to make better FAQ pages: → Chunk your FAQs by topic (if they cover multiple categories) → Utilize headings and bold text to create hierarchy → If using accordions, make sure the whole accordion is clickable → Provide an expand/collapse all button for accordion-based FAQs → Avoid multi-column layouts for better scannability Want to learn more about how to craft better FAQs that deliver value? Just like how Lorem Ipsum text can kill your prototypes, so can unrealistic mock data. 🤷 You - ”But I just don’t have the time to make realistic data for a prototype” Well that’s where AI can come in handy! In his recent article, Evan Sunwall addresses how you can leverage AI to help you quickly generate mock tables and charts with data that is realistically familiar for your participants. If you are working on data-intensive applications, you know they can be challenging to design, prototype, and present realistically. Especially when using real data sets can result in breaking confidentiality. Clever use of generative AI can help create and refine the data necessary to make these experiences sensible to your meticulous users. Crafting realistic data is a chore, but now we have help. Check out Evan’s tactics for generating AI tables and charts here: https://bit.ly/3TGpofX #Mockdata #Prototyping #ComplexApps #UXDesign #UserExperience #IterativeDesign #ArtificialIntelligence #Claude #Anthropic #ChatGPT

From your mobile shopping apps to UX tools, the sparkles icon is popping up everywhere. But what does it actually mean? 🤔 Kate Kaplan, author of Digital Icons that Work, explores why this symbol is being used to signal everything from special deals to AI-driven features. ✨ While commonly seen in editing tools, sparkles have since found their way into all kinds of apps, where their meaning varies. Promotions on Lyft. Ulta's discover page. AI generation. The meanings of the sparkles icon can vary greatly and that can cause confusion. 🔍 😖 ✨ Why? The icon lacks a consistent interpretation—while it’s generally seen as indicating something special, what that something is remains vague. ✨ Fun fact: Despite its growing presence, most users still don’t connect sparkles with AI, even though it’s becoming the go-to icon for AI-driven features on many platforms.
