LinkedIn Live Overview

Last updated: 4 months ago

LinkedIn Live allows eligible members and Pages to broadcast live video content to a LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn Page, or Event. If you’d like to become a LinkedIn Live broadcaster, review the create and host LinkedIn Live: access criteria.

You can't stream directly from LinkedIn; you'll need a streaming tool to broadcast LinkedIn Lives (Video). The right tool depends on your level of expertise with streaming:

  • New broadcasters: Use a third-party broadcast tool. Choose one of our five Preferred Partners (Restream, Socialive, StreamYard, Switcher Studio, or Vimeo) or one of your Certified Partners.

  • Advanced broadcasters or professional producers: Connect directly to any streaming software or encoder using a custom stream (RTMP Ingest). Go live from your desktop browser by visiting the LinkedIn custom stream page. You can use the tool of your choice (For example OBS, Elemental, Zoom, etc.) or your own production workflow for streaming.

With either option, you can go live spontaneously or schedule your live stream in advance. We recommend scheduling your live stream in advance to promote it on or off LinkedIn.

Troubleshoot issues: If you run into errors during the setup or streaming process, review these resources for answers to commonly asked questions.

Notes

  • All LinkedIn Lives are public and will be recorded. After a stream is complete, it will remain on the feed of your LinkedIn profile or Page as a video that was Previously recorded live.

  • We recommend enabling two-step verification in account settings to protect your account. All broadcasters should turn this setting on.
