- One of the biggest consequences of suffering a traumatic experience comes in the form of inflexible thinking. Traumatic incidents can freeze our thoughts in place and make it so that our thinking remains frozen. What does this mean exactly? Well, when we suffer a traumatic experience, our minds tend to overestimate threats in our environment, which means that we will be facing new situations, like a conversation with a supervisor or a colleague, with the same threat response.
