In this segment, we'll describe the main elements of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Sarbanes-Ox, and HIPAA. Let's start with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which is a law designed to protect copyright holders from unlawful reproduction or distribution of their works. If a service provider is hosting user-generated content that is in violation of the law, the copyright owner must send a notice to the service provider about the infringing content. As long as a service provider follows certain procedures, such as promptly removing the content upon receiving a valid notice, they won't be held liable for copyright infringement.
