I'm sitting in Microsoft Ignite 2023 this morning for Day 2. Yesterday, Satya Nadella dubbed Microsoft a "Copilot Company". Honestly, I feel the new monicker undersells the company, after all, a Copilot is essentially is chatbot app. Microsoft is much more than that. So far, the most interesting announcement along with the new set of Microsoft Silicon (Maia 100 and Cobalt 100) is the GA launch of Microsoft Copilot Studio. It's a fusion point of key developer tools, namely Visual Studio, Git Hub, and Power Platform. In my view, this is the key lever that Microsoft has to drive adoption of Copilot largely enabled by GitHub Copilot. It has been incorporated into Microsoft Copilot Studio to augment developer coding work, but there are still many step involved in configuring/building Copilot based on developer sessions I have attended. However, Copilot Studio comes to market with 1,100 plugins to build to Copilot RAG applications. The thing that really sticks out is the level of integration across the Microsoft developer tooling portfolio and Azure cloud and data integration platforms, namely Microsoft Fabric.
