Lying in your resume or in LinkedIn. 🤥 Below is one of my favorite memes (also because I am a big Star Wars Fan) ...But it is SO real. It is fascinating, mind blowing and also a bit scary to see how many people inflate or blatantly lie on their resume and LinkedIn profile. My favorite example is that I have been starting to see a trend of people OVER utilizing AI to craft their LinkedIn profiles or resumes where if you ask one or two critical thinking questions they just stumble and not know how to answer. I have even gotten one candidate tell me "I don't remember why I typed that". Public Service Announcement. It is AMAZING to use AI to AUGMENT our capabilities. BUT please DO NOT use it without AUDITING it!!! It will backfire on you!!! #RantFriday 😎

Is anyone else able to pick out the AI written job descriptions? They feel a little, well, artificial, don't they? We all know that AI is here to stay and that it will most likely replace a lot of the jobs that humans are currently doing (those that can be automated and do not require our physical ability). Talk about a major pivot when it comes to what we all do for a living.  Something to think about. Looking for a job could have you experiencing a lot of the pitfalls of AI, as ATS systems are knocking you out of contention without even knowing who you are.  So, the answer you are hearing and the action you are taking is to make sure your resume is "keyword friendly".  Does that really help? Maybe.  Possibly. You tell me.  Is it working for you? If you want to see more activity in your job search, you have to have an equally matched or more powerful strategy for what you are up against. It's time to open up your mind to what a little bit of AI can do for you right now. It might feel overwhelming. It might sound out of your league. It might sound time consuming. It might sound costly. It’s actually none of those things. Guess what else? You will still be able to have a personal touch and control every step of the process. I'm looking for a new role and I am sure as 2024 brings new opportunities many of you are as well. One thing I am struggling with, being honest, is using AI to aid my search. I have no issue with using AI to review the market, create a database of companies of interest and to refine my targeting. I do have an issue with using AI tools to communicate who I am and what I have to offer. It feels that many of the conversations between future employees and future employers are actually formed of dialogue between one AI platform and another. I can create my resume using AI, hone a beautiful cover letter and utilise all the keywords in the job posting to ensure I tick all the pre-determined boxes. The recipient will review my communication, or rather their own AI platform will. and as a result determine whether I am worthy of an interview or even a response. I'm sensitive to the fact that many positions attract large numbers of applications but the vast majority of these are likely AI generated and AI reviewed. The value an individual can bring, the personality, the very essence and fit of a person and a company can't be determined by AI. I fear that many on both sides of the job search are missing out on true talent or opportunities because 'computer says no' or more accurately, one AI's output does not meet the requirements of another AI's input parameters. A conversation goes a long way to understanding whether there's a working relationship to be had. Outsourcing both ends of the equation to AI seems counter-intuitive and not worthy of the value of the role. If you hire someone and they work for you for 5 or 10 years that's a huge commitment to make from both parties. Seeing a person as opposed to an AI version of a person is truly important. #peoplefirst #culture #jobapplication #aiapplications

Artificial Intelligence vs. Job Boards. Who would win? Spoiler alert: there is a clear winner....🤖 We have all been there at least once in our life – endless scrolling on job boards, hoping we find the perfect role. But the reality is, we find different challenges along the way... 🤯 Keyword Chaos: One wrong word, and you miss relevant openings. 🤼 Too much noise and competition: Top jobs get flooded with applicants, even non-relevant ones, burying your CV. ⏳ Time Waste: Sifting through irrelevant roles eats up your precious time. And what about Job Boards based on Artificial Intelligence? Things will be different: 🎯 Tailored jobs, finally! AI will analyse your entire CV and preferences and will match you with relevant jobs. 🔎 You would discover jobs with different titles but that would be relevant to your skillset.  👨❤️👨 Matchmaking: the perfect AI job board would actively suggest you to recruiters based on your profile, saving you effort. Does this mean job boards are dead? Probably the traditional job board would fail to attract top candidates. We are already seeing similar kinds of job boards like Otta.com using recommendation systems being a top choice for candidates. And I am 100% certain that top ones like Linkedin, Indeed, Reed and Monster will follow with progressive AI updates. #AI #JobBoard #JobSearch

Hey fellow job seekers! Hope you’re doing well. One thing I will tell you that is the most frustrating about applying for jobs now in this job market is the AI technology driven world. There used to be a time where actual HR staff at a company would comb through resumes manually looking over the applicants qualifications. Now, artificial intelligence (AI) has been deployed by many companies to look for specific key skills. If those skills are not found, the candidate is sent an automated response saying that they will not be chosen for the role On LinkedIn the algorithms have become so complex that even if you match all the skills that position requires, you may still get rejected. So, where does that leave the job seeker? Flustered, stressed, hopeless. The trend is only moving upward unfortunately. My advice as a job seeker myself, is don’t let this get you down. The constant barrage of automated rejection replies just means that opportunity was not meant for you, it has nothing to do with your qualifications. You ARE qualified, you are talented, you are worth more than you think. Keep plugging away, the right opportunity is within your reach! #artificialntelligence #jobsearch #aichallenges #atsresume

We need to be MORE human in a job search. Not LESS human. Jobs are filled by people with different personalities, experiences, wisdom, education, quirks, accomplishments, challenges and backgrounds. AI (admittedly) cannot identify that. If you are in a job search, and millions of people are, make sure you are being seen for YOU and not a compilation of keywords. #resumewriting #jobsearch #human
