"Excited to share a few glimpses from the *Celebrating Cognizant* event at our Hyderabad location! This iconic event was relaunched with great enthusiasm, and we are thrilled to see such amazing participation from all our associates. Phase 1 featured carrom, table tennis, and chess, and it was overwhelming to witness the incredible energy and competitive spirit. Congratulations to all the participants, and a special shoutout to the winners and runner-ups! Looking forward to more fun and excitement in the upcoming phases. Thanks to our HR team for organising it so well and our center head Ratna Sarma V Kolachana for keeping us inspired and going! #CelebratingCognizant #Hyderabad #TeamSpirit #EmployeeEngagement #PhaseOne"

♟️As we begin #CelebratingCognizant today with a thrilling chess event, here’s a quick sneak peek into the game that challenges minds! ♟️ In Hindi, we call it 'शतरंज' (Shatranj), but its roots go even deeper. Originating in ancient India as 'Chaturanga', this game was once played by kings and warriors to hone their strategy and foresight. Over centuries, it evolved into the chess we know today—a game of intellect where each move holds the weight of a thousand possibilities. Today, as I sat across the chessboard at our Noida office, it wasn’t just about winning or losing. It was about reliving the brilliance of a game that teaches patience, sharpens the mind, and reflects the art of thinking ahead—qualities we value so much at Cognizant. This marks a wonderful beginning to our #CelebratingCognizant festivities, and with Carrom adding to the fun, it’s just the start. The coming months are filled with more excitement, so stay tuned, celebrate yourself, and celebrate Cognizant! Engagement Manager at Zinnov | Strategy Consulting & Commercial Due Diligence | TMT & Private Equity
Since the news broke about Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte’s departure, I've been pondering what led to his early exit. Despite his noteworthy achievement in boosting Wipro's share price (~116%), there seems to be a deeper reason behind his departure. As someone who believes that sport has answers / parallels to most of the corporate problems, I find parallels between Delaporte's exit and Greg Chappell's controversial tenure as the Indian cricket team's head coach from 2005 to 2007. Both cases highlight that success isn't solely about individual skills / capabilities but also about effective man and talent management. Greg Chappell, an iconic Australian batsman and cricket intellect, struggled as India's head coach due to challenges in understanding and aligning with Indian dynamics / sensibilities, particularly with senior players. Similarly, Delaporte faced hurdles in rallying his team in India, evident from the departure of top executives and short tenures of regional heads he appointed. What can other IT / Engineering Service providers, especially those with a growing presence in India, learn from this? It boils down to: ->Prioritizing motivation and engagement of Indian Delivery Teams and Senior Leaders. ->Recognizing and integrating India's cultural nuances into corporate strategies. Failing to bridge this gap can have detrimental effects on performance.
