SVP Research @ The Linux Foundation | Amplifying the impact of open technologies across domains and within industries.
⚕️ 🏥 Exciting update for #healthcare stakeholders and innovators! 🚑 🩺 🔎 New research from The Linux Foundation, An Open Architecture for Health Data Interoperability, identifies a beachhead for the healthcare sector to concertedly leverage #opensource as a paradigm for solving patient care and patient-related administrative challenges, from the most basic to the most highly complex. 📉 It begins with a conversation around #data. To fully realize the potential of #AI to transform patient care, we need better data portability and #interoperability to overcome the "information dark ages" that persist through health record system silos. 💡 Developing an open architecture for data portability within countries, where healthcare is governed at state or provincial levels, and across countries, is something numerous healthcare and technology leaders agree is worth pursuing. We have a unique opportunity to create new solutions, and to build on open source initiatives and communities already established. 🐧 At the LF, we welcome a coalition of the willing to manifest this vision! If you're interested, get in touch. 🎉 Congratulations to Anna Hermansen for leading this effort from idea to publication - and beyond - as we explore the opportunity before us. 🙏 Special thanks to Irving Wladawsky-Berger who served as lead advisor to this project, colleagues Michael Dolan and Mike Woster, and to numerous collaborators including Tony Shannon Alexander Scammon Niraj Dalmia Arun Kumbhat Peter Lee Ian McNicoll, John Halamka, M.D., M.S., among others. Shout out to Jim St. Clair for sharing the vision. Download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/g_pE9XYA #research #OSS #health #pharma #medical #healthscience
