The Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) congratulates the 125 recipients of Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment (Legacy) awards, who have collectively received almost $12 million dollars in grant awards. These grants will support a wide range of activities throughout the entire State of Minnesota, including:

  • Cultural Heritage (86 recipients) – To preserve and honor the cultural heritage of Minnesota; provide education and student outreach on cultural diversity; support the development of culturally diverse humanities programming; or empower communities in building identity and culture.
  • Capacity Building (17 recipients)  – Support to organizations promoting the culture of underserved communities to assist with training for staff on grant writing and grant reporting; consultation and training from experts in nonprofit management; and capacity building and fundraising capabilities for smaller organizations.
  • Children’s Museums (13 recipients)  – To support arts and cultural exhibits and related educational outreach programs – with priority for youth education, new exhibits development, outreach to underserved and diverse communities; and programming that celebrates cultural diversity.
  • Civics (7 recipients) – To support programs and organizations providing civics education for youth on law, democracy, government, and debate; and conduct civics education programs.
  • Emergency Response (5 recipients) – To support urgent community needs for organizations; assist communities responding to crisis or major events; and/or facilitate the process of grieving, encourage healing, create memorials, or assist in recovery of the community.

MHC would like to thank the Minnesota Legislature for providing grant funding to MHC to administer these grants across the state, and for the new funding provided this session, which will result in several new grant lines.
