3 Minutes to Snowpark

In three minutes, you can be using the Snowpark API with your Snowflake account. You can be writing Scala or Python code from scratch or utilize SnowConvert to migrate existing Spark applications (in Scala or Python) to Snowpark. Let's see how

It's that simple. Take the three minute challenge now. The only prerequisites are a Snowflake account (if you don't have one, you can get a free 30 day trial from Snowflake) and a BlackDiamond Studio account.

The Three Minute Steps

If the video above was not riveting enough, you can relive the experience by following the steps given below. You can also find more information on executing these steps by reading the Scala Quick Start Guide in the BlackDiamond Studio documentation.

  1. Login to BlackDiamond Studio.
  2. Create a New Project.
  3. Choose to let BlackDiamond Studio create a new Git Repository for you.
  4. Enter your Snowflake connection info (note that you can use BlackDiamond Studio to connect)
  5. Start with a template. This will populate a set of template files in your repository.
  6. Finish the setup and enter the IDE.
  7. The IDE will take a few seconds to load, so you may need to breathe at this step.
  8. If you're using Scala:
    1. Import the Build.
    2. Run the main.scala code file to Snowflake using the Snowpark API and the metals extension.
