4During Interaction

Show contextually relevant information

Display information relevant to the user’s current task and environment.

Display information relevant to the user’s current task and environment.

When showing information, consider whether the user’s surrounding context, such as their current task, location, or time of day, may impact what they expect or need to see. For example, an app that can recommend restaurants may want to consider the user’s current location to show restaurants nearby. In such cases, plan to capture relevant signals about the user’s context and use them to tailor the content the AI provides.

When applying Guideline 4, endeavor to do so in a privacy-aware way. Consider trade-offs between user benefits and privacy. Consider pairing this guideline with Guideline 17, Provide global controls.
