NCW Tech Alliance Digital Equity | Program Overview November 2023

The NCW Tech Alliance is steadfast in its commitment to shaping a future where technology is a driving force for the success of our rural communities. Our focus is not just on embracing technology, but doing so with a foundational commitment to Digital Equity. Our goal is to deliver inclusive and engaging programs that are accessible in terms of level, location, and language, reaching people wherever they are. Key Components of Our Digital Equity Program: NCW Digital Access and Equity Coalition: This coalition unites organizations, public utilities, government agencies, community groups, and stakeholders across Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan counties, along with the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. Our objective is to tackle issues related to digital access and equity in our region. Digital Navigator Training: These courses provide the necessary skills and knowledge for participants to assist community members in navigating the digital world, ensuring access to vital online resources and services. NCW Tech Help Pop-Ups: These engaging in-person events offer hands-on training and support, helping community members develop essential digital skills. Technology Classes in Spanish: In partnership with Community for the Advancement of Family Education (CAFE), we offer technology classes in Spanish, catering to the diverse needs of our community. Community Skilling Labs: These labs provide accessible, local opportunities for individuals to enhance their digital skills and knowledge. Value Statement: In September, alongside Thriving Together NCW, we celebrated Digital Equity Month. This included a series of pop-up events, trainings, and meetings aimed at narrowing the digital divide both now and in the future. The month-long focus was on raising awareness about the importance of digital equity in our 4-county region and on the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. Our Digital Equity initiatives are designed to ensure that everyone, regardless of socio-economic status, can fully participate in the digital world. By providing training, resources, and support, we're dedicated to creating a more inclusive and connected community, empowering everyone to benefit from the advancements of the digital age.

This evening networking social has become a key occasion for bringing together individuals from various sectors for an evening of connection and celebration. Over the years, the Kick-Off Party has seen many iterations, ranging from an informal tech game night to a formal catered sit-down dinner. It provides an excellent opportunity for us to share our programs, mission, results, and resources with the wider community. This event encapsulates our vision of creating a vibrant, interconnected tech community where ideas, support, and collaborations flourish.
