That’s why we’re committed to sharing the plain facts about our reusable underwear — how it’s made, what it’s made of, and why it’s safe.
At Thinx, we do a series of rigorous product safety tests. As part of our approach, Thinx products are tested for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and we are proud to say we pass these tests.
We use third-party, accredited internationally recognized labs for our product testing for individual PFAS compounds as well as fluorine and total PFAS levels. This includes the organic fluorine tests (see test results here), total fluorine tests and adherence to the 2023 OEKO-TEX® standards. We consistently pass these tests, remaining OEKO-TEX® certified.
Thinx is not made with PFAS
Thinx are safe. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS, are absolutely not part of our product design. We also take measures to help ensure these substances are not added to our products through material, design, production, facility, and supplier controls.
We care deeply about the materials used in our products, putting comfort and safety at the core of our design, development and manufacturing.
Product Design & Specifications
Materials have specific product requirements and are carefully selected to help ensure product effectiveness. PFAS are not part of our product design.
Supplier Code of Conduct & Chemical Supplier Agreement
Raw material suppliers are OEKO-TEX® certified and attest that Thinx is not treated with PFAS.
Manufacturing Partners Adhere to FDA Registered Facility Requirements
We work with manufacturers who are industry leaders in health and safety practices, whose facilities are FDA registered & ISO 13485 certified.
Finished Product Evaluations
Finished products are tested through an accredited, globally recognized third-party lab to ensure they are compliant with U.S. and international regulations. These tests also include absorbency capacity, usability, and wearability testing.
Inspected Prior to Shipment
As required by FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), every production batch of our products, which are registered as medical devices, goes through finished product inspections. The inspection process checks the garment specifications, overall quality, packaging and labeling information.
