Growing from a regional to a global instrument, with five more countries joining in 2023, the Water Convention is a crucial intergovernmental platform to discuss transboundary water cooperation.

MoP 10 aims to strengthen transboundary cooperation, which is crucial for peace, sustainable development, and climate action. It marks a significant milestone for the global water community, driving the transboundary water cooperation agenda at the international level.

The meeting will begin with a high-level segment titled "Our Waters, our Future: Transboundary Water Cooperation to Power Climate Resilience". Participants will review progress made under the 2022-2024 work programme, discuss challenges in transboundary water cooperation, and adopt a new programme for 2025-2027.

Three new publications will be launched, including reports on transboundary data-sharing and progress on SDG indictator 6.5.2 on “Proportion of transboundary basin area with an operational arrangement for water cooperation”.
