This past week, we've seen parts of the Southeast U.S. devastated by Hurricane Helene, including extensive flooding, landslides, and damage to homes and businesses across the region. Conditions on the ground are difficult, especially in mountain communities that continue to be cut off from communications and resources.
At Upstream, our work is driven by a belief in the urgency of the climate crisis and the importance of up-to-date, accurate data to help us make on-the-ground decisions. Right now, that's a resource that's urgently lacking as communities struggle to understand what has happened to the places they love in these last few days.
We are just now beginning to see the first satellite and aerial images coming online that can help us to understand the new landscape left behind by this storm. This month, we will provide free access to Lens for local partners in affected areas to support rescue and recovery efforts.
