We have two of these, one inside the carport and one under the eave/soffit on a deck. There were temporary system issues right after we installed them, but now things are working well. These cameras give clear pictures whether live view or recorded, even at night. I'm a little disappointed that the motion detection doesn't reach farther out from the cameras, but it's adequate even on the one that is mounted at a sharp angle, which reduces the range. The view reaches out very far, but motion isn't detected until about 15 feet from the camera on one and about twice that far on the other one that isn't angled down as sharply. Another limitation is the cameras only record about 31 seconds of motion, even if motion is continuing, which doesn't seem long enough for a true security camera. There is also a slight delay in detecting or recording the motion, but for the price it works well enough, so I didn't deduct a star. We've had these a few weeks and battery charges are holding up well so far. The one on the deck frequently detects small animals and birds if they are close, but that's okay. I get motion alerts on my phone and on our Echo Dots (different tones for each camera), and usually also on my Fire tablet. The tablet is having some issues at times showing the recorded videos, but I think the problem is the tablet and not the cameras.
I also purchased the Ring Chime Pro to strengthen the wifi signal for one of the cameras which is farther from our router. It strengthened the signal by only about 10 RSSI. Although the camera worked without the Chime Pro, sometimes it indicated a weak signal. I've never needed a wifi extender and didn't know at first that you have to change to the Chime's wifi "network" to use the extender function. We now have one camera on the Chime's network and one still on our home wifi network, although of course both actually go through the home wifi. The Chime also sounds an alert for both cameras, but the sound is the same, unlike the Echo Dots that can make a different sound for each camera.
I might get the little solar panel for one of them, although so far we're satisfied with the battery charge.
A newer version is about to be released, but these are working well so far. We got them for $149 each and they were relatively easy to install. They were recommended by our monitored alarm system company, although they are not connected to the alarm system. We're still on the free trial but will pay the yearly fee so that past recordings can be saved and viewed. I've read reviews that say this is almost a necessity, as videos even a few minutes old aren't "current" and sometimes can't be viewed.

Caught neighbors roommate dealing drugs from shared porch!
I got this camera due to multiple break-ins in my area. I did not expect to catch my neighbors roommate dealing drugs from our front porch! Literally within 10 minutes of mounting this camera I began receiving notifications of motion being detected at my front door. 4:15am, 4:30am, 4:50am etc. I noticed my neighbor had lots of visitors but didn’t think much of it. The next morning I had dozens of notifications from the Ring app. I watched and began to notice a pattern: Unknown person walks up to neighbors door, sends a text on phone (doesn’t ring doorbell or knock) a couple minutes later neighbor opens the door. A few more minutes later that person leaves. Literally within 2-5 minutes the next person would arrive. This continued for 6 different unknown people from 4-7am. Everyone in the video was either carrying a bag or had a backpack on. I still wasn’t sure what was going on. Then I saw a video that spoke for itself. Unknown person arrives at our porch looking around nervously, door opens. Unknown person says “I don’t —-ing care just give me the ——.” In the video you can see neighbor handing him a small plastic bag. It’s a tense exchange and you can tell my neighbor was nervous dealing with this person. I showed the video to my landlord and she says she is telling our neighbor his roommate has to move out. She couldn’t believe her eyes. We’re all still in shock. Another neighbor sent the footage along with some other videos to the local police who have not said a word.I almost wish I’d never put the camera up because it has caused a lot of drama, but it did exactly what I bought it for: caught a suspected crime on video.Oh well. Good job Ring! The camera quality is great, motion detection is on point, and the solar panel I got for it keeps the battery at a steady 100% charge. Very satisfied with my purchase.
