Windows Standalone Game Pack for ATARI ST/STe games
A downloadable project for Windows
Are you an ATARI ST/STe coder and you want your games or demos be easily accessible for non-ATARI ST retro fans? Then this package may be a tool for you.
With relatively little effort you can make your game a "Windows Standalone" that acts almost like a native Windows game.
This Package uses the power of the HATARI Emulator and EmuTOS and adds some magic. Please check out these great tools that make this stand-alone package possible!
http://hatari.tuxfamily.org/
https://emutos.sourceforge.io/
License-Info: Both, HATARI and EmuTOS are under GPL (General Public License). The Standalone Game Pack uses unmodified binaries for HATARI and EmuTOS. You may find the most up to date binaries and sources via the provided links.
This package was introduced at Silly Venture 2022SE in the Wild Compo.
Attention:
- The package is empty. Ready to accept your game or demo. Please do not infringe on third party copyrights.
- Check out the video and the provided instructions. If you are a coder, your will understand easily how to use the package.
- Read instructions! Yes! Really!
- This package and Hatari will trigger Windows warnings.
- The package does not necessarily use the latest version of HATARI or EmuTOS. You can change that, if needed.
Limitations:
- Game or demo must be executable form ST/STe Harddrive.
- Game or demo must be compatible with EmuTOS.
- Game or demo must be in ST-Low resolution (for now)
- Games or demos which make massive use of hardware tickery, may get in conflict with the loader program. No guaranties there.
- Games or demos which are missing an "exit" will not be able to self-terminate.
- In standard configuration [Q] and [ESC] are reserved for the emulator. If these keys are needed in the game, the hatari.cfg must be altered.

version 1.0 of COSMOS CHRONICLES using your tool available ! Question : it will not work with a ST game with 4Mo of RAM ? (because COSMOS II will be possibly use 4Mo of RAM)
Thanks again for this great tool
The loader program stays in RAM, waiting for termination of the game to close the HATARI Emulator. If COSMOS II needs all 4MB, then you have a problem.
You may change the HATARI configuration file. HATARI supports up to 14MB. Maybe this will help?
so no problem, it will not use all the 4MB ;)
FABULOUS !!!
I have used it for my ST GAME : COSMOS CHRONICLES, available on itch.io
I will thanks you in the game final version
So great to see the Stand Alone Pack in action! You even used the SNDH playback!!! So the documentation seems to be understandable.
Will the final version be multilingual? I would love to play this game!
yes, i will create an english version when finish (Version 1.0)
This is completely awesome!
Great idea!
