I am getting back to this after like a year, and thought "why not just start fresh and see what's new?" Well, there's a lot new. And some really funny bugs because of it. Namely the uh... graveyard scene. The new graveyard is neat, but it's uh... got a couple skeletons trapped or inside walls funny enough. And after I was already thinking "this is definitely a fancy new look for the place, and new dialogs for the scene for the guild (neat)" the scene spits me back out in the old graveyard xD I got extra chests this way, but uh... it broke some stuff because that happened haha. And for context I'm on android and I did do an uninstall and new install of the game prior to starting it back up. I only just got to the temple, so I'm definitely not far in, but that's the biggest bug I've found so far lol.

So I found out JoiPlay can be found on Patreon now, but when I try to load this in the windows emulator it crashes saying the dev needs to update xD which, considering the last dev log was a year ago, I don't doubt there's some conflicts on compatibility. Just kinda sucks, since I did give this game a try using an older version of JoiPlay but it was just... *very* buggy.
gotta do the scenes around town to trigger the investigation with Gypsy and Lily. Along this path, you will meet the police woman Maya. After that you can interact at the police station at night iirc, she gets added to the objective list. You do some fairly light CQC training, which will result in you not outright losing to Angel. And yes, her name and actions bother me xD
The 2 scenes are at the apartment Molly lives in iirc then the gym, both at night, which should trigger an objective to meet with Gypsy at the old abandoned house and go looking for clues Scooby Doo style lol
Figured when I finally got back to this I'd just restart to see what all might have changed... and here I'm reading it's had another new system overhaul? Or something similar? Wild bro lol. As for the delays, take your time. Family and real life should take priority instead of a game you are giving us free. Not everyone will agree, but it's factual that we can and will wait ;) stay safe Arc o/
are you getting the weird error saying there's a version already installed? If so, you will probably need to do a fresh download because the last few older versions broke the updater. 0.44 added in a new thing to basically check if you are on an old version and have a new prompt on the main screen to show there's an update available along with it linking to this site. If you are having a different issue, maybe putting details will help you get answers :P
Oof I would have to play it again if you want a step by step... but there is literally a "correct path" through the swim competition chain of events. If you still don't understand that, I cannot help without actively going back and replaying it to remember which choice you need to do in which order for all the event flags.
That's not exactly how this works... but I'm not about to argue about it. It really is an APK side, not a device side, thing that prompts the APK to update instead of fresh install. As for backing up the save, it was never deleted. The fact that the APK prompts the creation of all new folders and files is where the disconnect is. Literally your game used to properly update until some time last year I wanna say, when you started adding in new features and overhauls. It's why I made this post (again) bringing it up and asking if anyone else has found a fix because I'm tired of trying to fix it myself when hidden mobile files are annoying to get. If it was PC, like the Windows files, then it would be relatively easy. But when you even use a file browser app and can't find the right file to put in the right folder... or of you do and it just fundamentally breaks because the save doesn't update when transferred (like in this case)... regardless, as I said I was hoping someone else had a fix, but it's kinda harsh seeing the dev actually respond and say they have no control over it as if someone else makes the APK for them lol
I mean... you can't technically complete an incomplete game lol. So you would still need to update even if you did have to restart. That's where the skip function comes in handy.
It is honestly really weird that it doesn't just directly update anymore though. And restarting multiple times becomes tedious af.
so this isn't even the first time this has happened now, but I guess the apk no longer has the update hook? The last couple updates have just run a fresh install instead of updating the existing files, and each time it does that I have to start over because the new install also doesn't access the old installs saves. I want to say I made a post about something similar happening a few months back, but it seems like the dev doesn't actually look at the comments whatsoever. So if anyone else has any ideas. I could try to open up the file location for the old install and copy the save files over to the new install, but that usually ends up breaking the process for things that got updated on these mobile versions it seems... I've tried doing it with other games and it usually results in a lot of error codes during scenes and events lol
If the dev does see this by some rare chance: can you please have it update hook again? Having it do a fresh install and starting over all the time is kinda ruining the game for me because I get bored when I am forced to repeat the same thing constantly.
Strangely no scrolling option on the android version? Like if a quest is written but is to long for the quest log, you can't scroll down to see what's written. Or when checking the pictures on the laptop you can't scroll down to see all of them. For the quest log it just moves the lil window around, and the laptop stuff just doesn't move. It will usually select an image if you slide over it, close out the selection if you go off it, or do nothing lol.
So I been playing here n there the last couple days, just got back from the school trip, and just gotta say... the game is honestly pretty good. Could use some fixes, obviously, especially for some writing. But my only actual criticism is it feels heavily rushed. Dude got his power and within a week or 2 has had a lot of over the top shit happen with next to no build up. It really doesn't give any time to build up stats or cash while also doing other stuff like taming or (after the trip) clearing the base etc. There's just so much to do, but plot points keep rushing at us every single day. Then it feels like there's a time skip where we don't even get proper stat ups, like I get back from the trip and didn't expect the fights that lower danger levels to suddenly be chunking my health. I actually got a game over because I got 2 Hingetus doing back to back CC that prevented me from having a turn. Before the trip, things barely hurt me, after the trip they are doing like 20% of my health each time they manage to hit. And I hard focused dodge for the first 2 weeks :/
I feel like other games help prevent these issues by making it so events can randomly trigger, but to progress the story you actually have to choose the option to progress it. Especially after the trip when it unlocks things that drain high amounts of energy and money, but then you gotta do the taming, but there's also the explore the mountains, but you still gotta keep the danger level down, but you still need to train your stats because the fights are suddenly destroying you... yes this run on sentence was intentional. That's just to much to manage while the story auto progresses itself every single day. Having the option to progress the story, or even choose which love interest to interact with instead of it being RNG each day (though they are probably scripted with how the game has multiple warnings saying you don't have to do everything).
no clue anymore, the writing of this really wasn't good enough to keep me interested. It is still on my list of "check back later" though. I would recommend using JoiPlay but like... that app seems to have died. And I'm unsure what other emulation apps there are for Mobile. It's been a minute but I wanna say it's literally just very fine timing and a good bit of luck lmao
Its an interesting concept but like... gods is it slow lol. The actual gameplay is alright, but scenes are slow and transitions are slow. Unsure if it's just Android, but having a way to speed up or skip stuff when you start it would be great. The whole game feels like I'm watching Gav n Dan from the Slowmo Guys lmao
that is exactly why I am choosing to wait lmao. I just tried this one called Realm Invader that only has 2 "episodes" currently. A lot of comments were positive, and saw one compare it to Caribdis, so I gave it a go. I want more xD. And I know if I just jump into Eternum now ima be big sadge when I hit the end of the current content instead of the whole story like I did with OiaL. I know it's *roughly* 80% ish done. So I can wait a bit longer, play the whole thing, then drop money on Caribdis again like I did with the prior game lol. Really glad to hear he's improved so much, makes me look forward to it :D
I will preface this with saying I am waiting to play Eternum. I would hope this is better than Once in a Lifetime. As is, you could see the improvements throughout it, and this is meant to be bigger than it lol. So it's great to hear that Caribdis is still improving on an already great foundation :D
I guess I should also add that the 2nd Grace scene is basically doing all the chain of events during the swim competition. After doing a few of the steps, MC will think to cast a calming spell on Grace, which has some... interesting side effects? Trying to be vague about it. If you want the exacts, I'd have to go back through to remember the steps. Basically just do the explore option a lot to get the other options going, iirc you get it after using the oil on Meryl.
So I finally got around to finishing what content there is. 2 episodes and only part 1 of episode 2, not even a full episode, legit took me a while. Hell, even restarting and super skipping to the end to afford that damn spell near the end took a few minutes. I gave this a try after seeing a lot of good comments down here, but it was a few saying this was up there with Carybdis (Once in a Lifetime and now Eternum) and I can hard agree. You have a few more jokes and silly scenes, but in terms of quality and looks, you do a bit better here n there. Highly recommend this to folks looking for an entertaining time :) I definitely look forward to more, and whenever the finished product comes out I plan to pay for it. Just like I did for Once in a Lifetime.
One technically isn't a Grace scene, the other is the swim competition. I am unsure of all the triggers outside of just increasing their uh... affection value? W/e it is in this one. The one that technically isn't a Grace scene is during the dream sequence before you do the Cadence intro event. She demands you go to the gym while you are sleeping and having a very lewd dream.
Ah, after thought on the last bit: we already know MC's stance towards slavery. They made it clear like... 4 times in such a short time? Them doing lewd stuff was literally a mutual thing. She leans into the master bit, he keeps asking her not to. He has even flat out said he wants them to be on equal terms. So I'm more confused as to how you didn't get that and demand some form of clarification o.o
Just gonna say... you weirdly seem to have gotten heated over something you don't like. I honestly found it pretty great, stories need a bit of playfulness and banter. Things don't always have to be dead serious at all times nor grim dark considering the premise for this one. Also, it's only got 2 "episodes" lmao. This is very obviously going to get bigger as the story goes, so of course it will be mostly world and character building for now. And so far there's a lot of plot hooks that have actually been taken relatively seriously, considering it's not exactly meant to be serious at all. Nice thesis on why you don't like it though, but honestly if you don't like something and don't have actual constructive criticism, you really shouldn't bother writing a short novel on why you didn't like it o.o
Hmm... because of how I am, I ended up buying into the patreon for the wallthrough... but because I got this going on Android it's a lil... not helpful? At least I can see what gives a + or - for dialogs, but I was kinda hoping it'd say what scenes will impact stuff. I like to know~ also I still can't figure out what you meant in the patreon post about putting the walkthrough in the game folder on mobile... might just be me being dumb though lol. Back to the choices I go~
That's pretty rad, honestly. Gotten so used to a lot of these games being abandoned and whatnot, let alone having a sequel planned. I do honestly look forward to it, and am still curious if it'll be a prequel to explain his family situation or a before and after with the gf like... you already laid out some threads to choose from ;D
I do feel I have to re-mention it though: I hope the game gets a bit of touching up on spelling and grammar. I do understand the silly writing, but there are legit some parts here and there that need actual fixing even in silly writing format lol.

To add onto this, the game breaks very easily it seems... like I went through some dialogs then it hard locked. Checked some scenes in the gallery because they weren't locked and it would act as if I had done the scene during the game but because I hadn't it would also hard lock. Hell, some of the gallery scenes had no way of getting out of them lmao. I'm unsure if it is just the Android side breaking things, but it's so broken that it is unplayable atm. Hope it gets fixed, I'd like to give this a try.
