Cupid / The Arachne and the Aqrabuamelu (Bundle)
A downloadable book
A bundle of two Twisted Myths from Waking of the Gods.
Cupid:
I believe the gods are intelligent, but not always wise, and I’m a great example of that. Epochs ago there was an era that many of the elder creatures of earth call the time of legends. Humans often call those of us from that time, myths, or mythical creatures. I know it’s all semantics, but since we do, or did exist, we are not myths.
I was one of the early legends born into this world, and as far as I can tell, the gods still weren’t that good at creating the inhabitants for earth. Several of their creations were prone to disinterest in their kind, which left the gods having to manually create more of the things they enjoyed.
I hypothesize that that is why I was created. While humans today like to envision me as one with a bow and arrow sticking people with arrows to make them fall in love, it is far less targeted than that. My presence causes creatures of all types to become enamored with those they might orient towards anyway. One of the bits of intelligence the gods showed with me, was taking into account that this aura I was created with could have the bad effect of several things turning their desires on me. The second bit of innate magic attached to me is that while creatures see and hear me, my presence doesn’t ever register in their brain. The lack of wisdom of this magic is multifold.
The Arachne and the Aqrabuamelu:
It seems war was inevitable. The humans were hardly a threat to the Arachne, though the Gods' new species did try their best. We thought that if they feared us, we could live in peace, but those blue-eyed monsters seem unacquainted with the concept of fear.
