"I don't really know what your game is about" - Primer Justin
About the Game
This "game" was made for Jackie Codes Game Jam, and is my first ever project and first time using GDScript. As such, it ended up being more of a proof of concept than an actual game.
The premise of the game is you are the owner of a pet beast who needs to be kept fed. There were many plans for game mechanics but all that was achieved during the jam was the ability to go find ingredients, bring them to the camp fire, and feed the beast. There is no win or fail state.
Other than a few CC0 sound effects from FreeSound.org, everything (art, music, code) was made during the jam by me. b3agz. Like and subscribe.
How to Play
Move around using the WASD keys. Find apples and mushrooms in the world (pick them up by clicking on them) and bring them back to the campfire.
Click on the fire to bring up the cooking menu, drag a mushroom and an apple into the menu and hit the cook button. Clicking on the resulting dish automatically feeds the beast.
Repeat until bored.
Excuses
I learnt Godot and GDScript from scratch in a week to make this damn game cut me some slack.

I like the artwork and sound effects. Good work on the music as well!
As MrZombie already said, its a really good game and I did really enjoyed playing it too.
It's overall a really cozy game and you nailed the music completely.
(I really LOVE that guitar track)
Obviously this is your first game in Godot and it is absolutely crazy that you basically learned everything needed for the game (like coding in GD script or figuring out Godot's god damn nodes system...) during the game jam,
But(t)...
I've encountered a few minor bugs during my play through and i hope you don't mind me sharing them... (in case you do, I apologise)
- One thing is that you can exit the cook UI while holding an item. Furthermore you can't cancel an item "selection", once grabbed, you have to use the item. But it's only noticeable when accidentally exiting the UI while cooking.
- The second thing is when you go to the beast and click on the empty cook result, the beast goes NOM NOM NOM...
- And third, when inputing 2 ingredients of the same kind, the result has no texture.
But that does not really make the game a bad experience, it really is a nice and cozy game. Keep going. :)
Thanks for the feedback and the kind words LeHero! Yeah there's some bugs, I was a little burned out by the end and just ready to hit that submit button. Thanks for playing!
This game is a tour de force of how AAA game developers should make all their future games.
I deeply enjoyed it and can't wait for the DLC, seasonal skins and the ultimate collectors edition!
Good effort for it being your first Godot game, mate! i won't be touching Godot until i lose all my fingers and am forced to type with my forehead.
It's actually a really fun game and if you hadn't run out of time i reckon it'd have been a bit more fleshed out with more ingredients and recipes!
Haha, thank you! I am planning to keep using Godot (as well as Unity) but I'm dropping GDScript like a bad habit.
