this is a very very short and very very simple game, but i hope you still enjoy the idea!

my thoughts

this was a very late ldjam submission, since i've had a lot to do over the past few weeks (have been quite busy!), but i still did it! nobody can say i didn't manage it. because it's so late, it's a very basic game, definitely not with many mechanics, but to be fair most jam games aren't designed to hold your interest for too long or do too much, so i'm not too disappointed about that - it's certainly better than nothing. really, for this game, i don't think it was made to actually be impressive or playable - i just made it as a way to make something, anything, and i guess you can use it as proof that i'm not dead or something. i would like to add more to it though, more levels, more mechanics, generally enough stuff to upgrade it from minute-long experiment to kind of fun flash game-tier.

what making the game really taught me, though, is it's probably best to design things to scale up well. i probably should have figured that out by now, yeah, but i never paid too much attention to it. but making levels in this game could've been so much easier if i'd spent 5 more minutes on design at the start, it could've been much easier to add new effects - there's a whole bunch i could've done, but didn't because it saved a few minutes of work earlier. so next jam i'll be sure to, you know, actually design things well. it's a skill like everything else. and hopefully next jam is soon; i forgot how fun it was to actually make games, even though it's only been a couple of months, so time permitting i hope to get more (and better!) stuff done at some point. there will always be another cakestorm game. don't worry.
