Looks like there’s a little edit to be made:

Also: I noticed all NPCs but one (the blacksmith’s master) blink, but the player character and all the enemies (those with visible eyes, anyway) do not. Is this implying that the two of them are already infected with the plague?

How come the game no longer works? I just get a black screen in the tab when I try, has been so for a while.

(+1)

It should work again. Thanks for letting me know!

Awesome!

Now, unrelated, I got a few questions (spoilers abound)

What does this fresco(?) found all over the Tower of Bones’ dungeon, plus near the Unearthed Blademaster and then the Heart of the Traitor, represent? (On that note: who is the Traitor? Whom did he betray?

Who is this statue the bird knight is sitting by (when you find the second secret)? Is this another saint?

When you find the third secret, why does the rabbit appear where the Stoatlike Shaman is

Why does there seem to be a dead body in the non-weapons salesman’s place (when you teleport into the house behind him)? Is that the daughter he mentions…?

Now, in terms of gameplay: what exactly does dark damage do? Fire weapons burn grass, but what about dark-type ones? Do they work better on stoats and kangaroos, who are ostensibly fire-type, Pokémon-style?

The first art is just a crypt with bones in it, the second a grave marker. The traitor is Saint Sebas, since that is his tomb. Why he would be considered a traitor is still a mystery, although clearly not everbody thinks of him that way.

The dialogue is meant to hint that the Rabbit is associated with the tower, although I kinda screwed up putting him on the bridge totally out of place after he leaves the letter. That positioning is meaningless.

The body in the house is not the daughter, but maybe what she brings to the merchant.

Dark aspect does more damage the more armor the target has, but only Lizardmen and glowing enemies have armor, so it's not particularly useful to the player.

In the sequel, armor is more like a barrier that can be removed with attacks, so dark damage instead gets bonus armor burn with training.

The traitor is Saint Sebas

OK, this just sparks more questions. Who’s buried at the gravesite? Did the daughter steal that body? Is she the one who unsealed the crypts?

Also, who are the Lizardmen? The ones who are there with the kangaroos? I thought those were stoats, too…

Also also, did you see my other question about the eyes?

Codex Capris is a really decent game. Although the fact there are only 2 elements - dark and fire - sounds really unusual, it's a decent game. There are pretty simple graphics, but I don't mind that at all - they look unique and I personally could enjoy the game with ease.

You also have ranged weapons and I remember having a small issue with aiming with them. It's a shame the game doesn't autosave, but maybe the game is just really short. I still think this game deserves to be a full-sized game; with more content.

A short yet very well done game, though small and not with too much, able to be done in one sitting, it feels very much made with passion.  I'm not much one for not knowing what I'm supposed to be doing, yet this did that to me in a way I knew that I simply had to look harder. I'd love to see this expanded upon at some point.

A really fun little game! I like the idea of dark fantasy with anthropomorphic characters. I also think the overall art is really well done. I will say that the game gets a bit easy once you can afford some of the higher priced items, I was one-shotting most enemies with a bow by the end of it.

If I was to suggest any changes, I would say maybe lower the amount of gold enemies drop to make those rare items feel more valuable, especially since enemies don't respawn, so picking what you want to spend your gold on can make more of an impact.

Weird game, I like it. A fireplace doing damage if you step on it is always bonus points in my book.

too ez but great game

like, the items that give u health are op

Cool

Good prototype with excellent sound design!

Awesome Game, i did not recorded because i was afraid of it being "like the others games" of the Author. New Game to my favorite browser games.

Fun and creative game! Played through without dying and found all 3 secrets too! I have a question but it would spoil the ending so I will reach out another way.

I'll find that third secret some day...

I found only one. How’d you find the second?

Ran all around, and blinked to places. I'm really lost on the third one. I don't know what I missed. I don't outright know what the secrets are, but definitely check out some islands.

My guess is it has to do with the sword you get at the end. Or maybe you have to pull all of the three last bosses together…?

EDIT: I got it! I think the first secret is the door in the third boss’ dungeon you can teleport from to the central part the map, the second is the guy in the water, and the third secret is the bunny at way the bottom of the map. After you beat the first three mini-bosses and he leaves that letter, that’s where you can find him.

EDIT 2: I think the three secrets are the blue bird, the man in the dungeon, and the rabbit. Those are the three characters you see at the end when you get all three.

I believe the three secrets involve the three characters you can talk to (the merman? in the water, the green bunny knight, and the blue griffin knight. To get the secret you need to complete all the conversations with the characters, so be sure to talk to them repeatedly.

The Merman is not one of the secrets. The secrets are those you see at the end of the game: the apprentice weapon-maker’s master, the Griffin, and the Bunny. I just checked.

I like this a lot! Gives me those OG Zelda & Dark Souls vibes, and I'm looking forward to exploring more! Ya got some great ideas with this, hopefully we'll get to see more in the future from you!

Cool game, the lack of guidance made it a little confusing at first, but then, it was really good

Fun game as usual Chunie. When are you gonna make a visual novel? Hit me up I'll code everything for you.

Love ya!

i think i killed all the bosses available and got 1 of 3 secrets.

I had so much fun with this game and after reading other comments, I realized I haven't even scratched the surface. I definitely would recommend this game and will be playing again.

I stood on a fire and died!
10/10
would recommend!

It's a funny little game. At the beginning it's confusing - I don't know where to go, what to do... maybe the first few seconds should be a little linear to introduce/teach the player to the mechanics!

Very nice little game. Very Well done! I enjoyed it. 2 out of three secrets.

I had a ton of fun with this game! I found 1 of 3 secrets... I'm not sure what counts as a secret, possibly the guy who says there will be rivers of blood? Or the pile of garbage with a trinket and a shield? I also don't think I heard every voice line, considering I killed two bosses before returning to town.

The storytelling feels Darksouls-esque in that its up to the player to glean info from dialogue. The gameplay feels diablo-esque. I don't know if I just got extremely lucky with a couple of yellow drops early, but the game felt easy.

I would prefer that the battle music doesn't start when you cast your teleport, because I'm not usually using it in a combat situation. And I think a map would be cool.

I think this game deserves a sequel!
