Your username
[edit]Hello, thanks for the work you have been doing already. However, could you take a look here, where it states that usernames should not end in "bot"- this is to avoid confusion between human an automated accounts. I'd therefore recommend that you create a new account here under a different name, and redirect this page to it. If you need any help doing this, please get back to me. Cheers. - It is a bot account, so I do not see any problem with it except for the user page that should be redirected indeed. --Alexander (talk) 18:52, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
- I hadn't realised you are a long-time user, but bots normally require permission to run on Commons - see Commons:Bots. I see Atsirbot does not have a bot flag, so I'm wondering how and why this is running here. If you've made a bot request, you are expected to link to it on your user page, along with your main user name. Have you been through this process? Cheers.
- The bot is running here because someone has to deal with thousands of images from WLE in Russia. The only alternative would be to leave them unsorted and uncategorized. I don't quite understand the difference between having and not having a bot flag, because scripts can be run under any account. I also have difficulties in making the request you mentioned. The categorization of images from WLE requires that lots of different things are done, so the scope of the bot is more or less everything that does not require admin flags. I would be grateful if you help me to draft this request. --Alexander (talk) 04:12, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
- Now I'm confused- is this work being done by a script under your control or a bot created by you? If the latter, it needs consent and a bot flag, otherwise, it doesn't. CheersRodhullandemu (talk) 14:52, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- It is done by a script that I run from my computer. --Alexander (talk) 16:13, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- In that case, it's OK, but an example of the confusion which can be caused by naming an account with "bot" when it isn't one! Cheers. Rodhullandemu (talk) 20:21, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

not to delete categories
[edit][1] [2] [3] [4] Please do not delete categories and interwiki --Andrey Korzun (talk) 21:55, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
- All fixed, more details on the Russian forum page. --Alexander (talk) 04:16, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
bad edit by your bot
[edit]See [5]. I see you reversed all the other similar edits. --Jarekt (talk) 14:04, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! Fixed. Yes, I have fixed the problem a few hours earlier, but this one single edit... honestly, I don't know what went wrong with it. --Alexander (talk) 14:08, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Strange things happen and as long as problems are easy to fix, it is not a problem. --Jarekt (talk) 14:23, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Another bad edit plus several more in Category:Media without a license: needs history check. Could you fix? --Jarekt (talk) 15:00, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- All fixed. Now I am struggling to understand why those few files out of thousands make a problem when my bot purges the cache... --Alexander (talk) 15:03, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- It looks to me that maybe your bot does not handle some files with non-ASCI filenames? --Jarekt (talk) 16:21, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- Actually never mind if you are from Russia than probably many of the files you handle have non-ASCI filenames. --Jarekt (talk) 16:23, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

- You are still making bad edits, removing necessary details as you did with File:Эрманс и Ко 2.jpg. Your first edit seems ok but your second remove the information template and the licence. That's unacceptable work. Ww2censor (talk) 21:09, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
- I have checked all 40000+ bot edits from the last month, and I found six files with this problem. Two were fixed by you. The other four were fixed by other people who did not tell me anything, unfortunately. I believe that the problem appears due to some lag in communication between my computer and the server when the bot thinks that it received page contents, while in reality it did not. I have put an additional test into the code, which should (hopefully) resolve this problem. As you understand, this problem is hard to track, because it occurs very infrequently and sporadically. --Alexander (talk) 21:37, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
