Using a file uploaded manually in a workspace as a souce for a copy activity

Hi,

I've uploaded manually a file in a Fabric workspace and I need to use it as a source in a copy activity.

How could I find this file as a source of the copy activity? Thanks

Hi, I've already used a Lakehouse files directory to upload a source file.

I know that the upload interface that I've shown is an old one, if my info is correct.

Thanks

Hi @pmscorca

@NandanHegde Thank you very much for your prompt reply, please allow me to share some content here.

Files that you can manually upload in the Fabric workspace can be used as sources in the copy activity.

In the source configuration of the replication activity, select Workspace as the data store type.

From the workspace, select the data warehouse where you are uploading the files.

In the source file configuration, select "File Path" and specify the path where you upload the file.

Hi,

I don't see any data store type option in the source tab of a copy activity:

I think you need to upload the file to the Files section of a Lakehouse. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-engineering/load-data-lakehouse#local-file-upload

(ref. also https://microsoftlearning.github.io/mslearn-fabric/Instructions/Labs/01-lakehouse.html#upload-a-file)

The screenshot you show in a previous reply (Upload, OneDrive, SharePoint, Browse) has a text under it (not displayed in the screenshot) "Upload a .pbix or .rdl file to your workspace".

Unless you want to upload a .pbix file or .rdl file, I think the suitable place to upload the file is in a Lakehouse Files directory.

Then, in the source pane of the Copy activity in Data pipeline, I think you can select the Lakehouse connection, and select Files in the Root folder radio button, in order to find the file and use it as source for the copy data activity.

Can you please specify what you mean by uploaded the file in workspace? Was it uploaded in files section in lakehouse?
