Added column to data source doesn't refresh to report

I have done the report (downloaded old report from service and edited it) in Power BI Desktop. Now there have added column in data source (Smartsheet). How can I get this column to my raport too? I have no more ideas - I have tried to refresh semantic model in service, report in desktop and tried to Power Query (it shows Queries (0)).

Please ask further questions if needed, just wrote what came to my mind about this problem.

Thank you in advance!

So I tested one thing: I downloaded previous report (old one) and there the data source was "Smartsheet" -> I signed in and the added column appears there. But there is still a problem: How can I get it to my report (which I have edited and which has NOT "Table view". Or should I do all those changes and edits to old report and deploy it again to service dev and prod..? (In dev there is no semantic model, just report, in prod there are both).

I got access to Smartsheet and now I use it on my new report (Get data etc.). I created measures again (from Direct query table to this smartsheet one) and deleted old table (Direct Query, includes same columns but the added one).

BUT NEED HELP ONE MORE TIME WITH THIS:

I have there other table also which is not in this same smartsheet. One visualization has been done from this table so it means it doesn't work when I publish it to service (since I have only this Smartsheet to other visualizations). Is there any option for example to copy table or table's columns to this other table? Or do you have any other ideas or solutions for this?

Please, need fast asnwer if you have any and if possible 💖

THANK YOU!

Hello @Gandhia ,

when you go in power query and refresh the table the new column should show, unless you used the choose columns which just keep the column you choosed and remove everything else.

so in  this case you should edit the choose columns and pick the new column as well to appear.

Thank you for your response, but as I said there is no data when I go to Power Query, have no clue why. So can't refresh either. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with my data source (in data source setting it is "DirectQuery to AS" not "dataflow" or "smartsheet".

@Gandhia ,

This could be because you are reading from a different location while your data is at a different location. Pls. verify if the link that you are using in Sharepoint connector is properly referencing to the file in the sharepoint that you want to read

Regards,

Ok, thanks. So if I understand correctly, I have to change data source from DirectQuery to Smartsheet (it was smartsheet in the report when I downloaded it from Service, but for some reason it isn't anymore). I am not sure if it is possible to do, because I haven't the link / access to this Sharepoint, isn't it? Or should I ask the owner/admin of Sharepoint to give link and access? What do you recommend, could you please give simple steps or say what should I do next? Thank you very much!

@Gandhia ,

Yes to connect to sharepoint, you need to have access to the Sharepoint file that you are connecting to.

A Simple check you can do is, if you are able to read the sharepoint file in your browser, then you should be able to read it in Power BI.

In case if you are using SmartSheet, then you need to use the Smartsheet connector in the Power BI Desktop.

Another check you can do is if your connection is successful, you data can be seen in the navigator.

If it is not visible here, it would mean you are not able to read the data with your access.

One more thing to keep in mind is, be it Direct Query or import mode, the data will be visible only if you have access to the source file in Sharepoint / Smartsheet, wherever it is.

Regards,

@Gandhia ,

then you're not reading directly from the sharepoint, you need to see from where you are reading and make sure the data is updated there.
