A preview with 3 playable tracks for the DOS Games Spring Jam.
RetroFuel is like a classic console racer, also similar to the Lotus series on personal computers. Controls are meant to be easy to approach, you can run all tracks flat-out but only use boost on a straight line. Some races require you to stop for refueling.
Play using the DOSBox emulator. Default configurations are fine but I recommend running 20,000 cycles.
Version 0.2 added Adlib sound effects, as well as (very experimental) support for the Creative Music System/Game Blaster.
Real hardware: it has been tested to run on virtually every Pentium system and some 486s. Requires:
- Floating Point Unit
- 4MB of RAM
- VGA graphics
- 66mhz clock speed

please, add a multiplayer? this game is great. just like Java and GBA games.
I like it I hope it continues to be developed. Reminds me of Top Gear for the SNES. Something to note is that occasionally I thought I would pass by a car and instead hit the back of it despite it looking like there should be enough room for your car to pass. However, please don't decide to pass on this game just because of that though, I quite enjoy it, but it can be frustrating when that happens. If the developer could adjust the hit detection of the other cars when trying to pass them, it would fix what I consider the only real flaw of the game as of fuel-v0.2.
thanks a lot for your feedback! I will experiment with having a collision system based on where the sprites are drawn on the screen, instead of road coordinates.
