The newly released DJI Mavic Mini brought a new app along with it, called DJI Fly. It’s a cut-down version of the DJI GO 4 app to better suit the needs of new flyers. The only drone that officially works on the DJI Fly app is the new DJI Mavic Mini, and after some testing and a video from iAdventurez, we have been able to get both the DJI Mavic Air and DJI Spark working in the new app.
DJI announced its new drone, DJI Mavic Mini at its ‘Fly as you are!’ event late last month. The Mavic Mini is the latest drone to join DJI’s Mavic line of drones. The Mavic Mini keeps the classic Mavic design, adds a 2.7k camera, and 30 minute flight time in a lightweight package.
The Visuo Zen K1 is a foldable drone with a 4K camera that was built to look like a DJI Mavic. It has GPS and a handful of intelligent flight modes and can be purchased starting at just $169.99. Typically drones in the sub-$200 price range have had their issues. What about this one? Is it finally the answer or is it too good to be true?

In August we reported that almost all DJI drones were out of stock on the official DJI online store. Today, we provide you with a DJI drone update. Some drones, such as the DJI Spark and DJI Phantom 4, have been removed entirely from the DJI store. Whereas other drones like the DJI Mavic 2 Pro have become available again but at significantly higher prices. What is going on here? Let’s take a closer look.

The world’s largest drone maker, DJI, has almost no drones available at their official online store in the US. We just checked their website and put together a little overview to show that almost all DJI drones are out of stock at the official DJI online store.
DJI Spark out of stock! We already know that the DJI Spark 2 event that was scheduled for July 23rd has been postponed indefinitely. However, we have now learned that for some time the DJI Spark (both red and white editions) has been out of stock on DJI’s official online store. No word on whether this mini-drone will come back in stock at some point in time. The drone was launched in 2017 and has been due for replacement. Will the DJI Spark go the way of the dodo? I mean, the way of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro? I don’t know. What I do know, is that at this point many people are wondering if DJI will release any new drone in 2019 at all.
With all the rumors about the Phantom 5 being canceled, the Phantom 4 out of production and DJI’s scheduled product release of what is rumored NOT to be a drone, people are wondering if we can still expect a new drone from DJI. Well, we have some good news for you. The Chinese drone maker is about to release the DJI Spark 2 drone. The drone is expected to feature some important upgrades compared to the original Spark, that was launched way back in 2017. And, leaked information from DJI insiders tells us that the Spark 2 will be released as soon as July. Keep reading on to learn more about the rumored specs of the Spark 2.
Update 6/18/19: We have received word that the Spark 2 launch that was scheduled for July 23rd has been postponed indefinitely. An industry insider told us that DJI sent out a memo last week stating: “due to a shift in priorities the July 23 event is now on hold until further notice”.Unfortunately, no information was provided explaining the postponement nor was a new date announced.

The big question after the transplant, of course, is will it fly again?
The DJI Spark has been the best drone under $500 for quite some time now. At its new reduced price of $399, the Spark is officially the beginner drone for most people. There really haven’t been many other options for people who want a good aerial photography drone on a budget. The Parrot Bebop 2 is the best drone you can buy for under $300. With the Bebop 2, you get a pretty serious machine. It has a 25-minute flight time, 2,000-meter range, and a 14 MP camera. The wide angle lens and electronic image stabilization of the Bebop 2 are impressive. This is an excellent beginner drone for anyone looking to get into aerial photography. It is surprisingly quiet but still powerful. The camera has the most impressive electronic image stabilization that I have ever tested. While it may not be quite as nice as the new Parrot Anafi, at half the price of the Anafi, the Bebop 2 it is a heck of a deal.

After the release of the Breeze in 2016, Yuneec’s small consumer drone was quickly overshadowed by the more capable and more popular DJI Spark. But now it is 2018, and the Yuneec Breeze is a bargain at under $200! I’ve tested countless drones in this price range so I am very familiar with the features and capabilities of drones under $200. Even with its limitations, the Breeze beats the competition. I’ll tell you why.
The August edition of Yachting World features an article called “Eye in the Sky” that promises to bring you five of the best drones in 2018. The drones included are the: DJI Mavic Pro, Parrot Bebop 2 Power FPV, DJI Spark, Parrot Mambo, and the GoPro Karma. Interestingly enough the DJI Mavic Air is missing from their selection even though that is still the most recent addition to DJI’s product line-up. Parrot’s latest drone the Anafi was also left out. They did include the Karma, however, even though GoPro itself has discontinued their troublesome drone earlier this year. Let’s take a quick look at the article.
DJI starts this week off with the introduction of the BROWN Spark mini-drone. In a partnership with LINE FRIENDS, the Chinese drone maker created a special version of their Spark drone mimicking the loveable bear.
With its smaller design, the Spark features a smaller battery which as a result decreases the flight time. Extra batteries are pretty cheap at $49 a piece, but once you start carrying around your drone, batteries, and extra accessories, things can get hard to pack in your bag. This is why the DJI Spark Portable Charging Station has become my favorite accessory that I own.
The DJI Spark was unveiled over one year ago on May 24th, 2017 at a keynote event held in New York City. This is the least expensive drone that DJI offers (the Tello is offered by Ryze), appealing to beginner pilots and average consumers who don’t want to drop some serious cash. This however does not mean the Spark is a low-end drone. It is packed with plenty of software features and power to experience the thrill of flying. Even being a year old, which is forever in terms of technology, it’s still the best beginner drone available for purchase.
With DJI releasing new drones every season, Spark owners might be wondering when their drone will get a refresh. Nobody knows what DJI has in the works for the next year, except for their employees obviously, but the likelihood of a new Spark drone coming out in 2018 seems very slim with the current set of drones DJI has for sale. Let me go into further detail to fully explain why I think DJI isn’t focused on bringing a new Spark to the market.
Lower prices on DJI’s drones will help enthusiasts into the air according to the Chinese drone maker. The world’s largest drone manufacturer will offer discounts up to $300 for drones like the Spark and Mavic Pro as part of the Amazon Prime day promotion, that will start on July 16 at 12 pm EDT and will run for 36 hours. People looking to pick up one of these discounted drones will be able to do so at the official DJI store on Amazon and the regular DJI online store for Canadian and US customers.
Time to update your DJI GO 4 app to version 4.2.20 for Android if you (or your phone) haven’t done so already. DJI has improved the GEO Zone database upgrade process for Wi-Fi connected devices such as Spark and Mavic Air. Furthermore, they . have added Spanish as a new language to the app.
Residents in the Del Mar (San Diego) community have found their trash cans toppled over and damaged week after week. As the repair and replacement costs started to add up, one of the homeowners took her DJI Spark drone and flew it around the neighborhood to find out who was trashing the trash cans in their Del Mar community.
