Six-Sided Dungeons
A downloadable game
The Story
There are two competing rulers whose fortresses are close enough for them to glare at one another from the windows of their respective throne rooms. After years of fighting in the open field between their castles, however, a new plan has been developed: tunnel through the walls of the dungeons, beneath the scarred battlefield, and attack the enemy fortress from below. It’s foolproof. Unfortunately, both rulers have had the same idea, so now it’s a race to see who can build their tunnels and overcome their enemy’s defenses first!
The Game
Six-Sided Dungeons is a simple grid-based tactics tabletop game inspired by more complex games like Fire Emblem, Warhammer Quest, and Yu-Gi-Oh: Dungeon Dice Monsters. It seeks to provide the thrill of outmaneuvering an enemy commander and striking where they're weakest without the complications of strange dice symbols or expensive miniatures. Instead, Six-Sided Dungeons relies on a shared set of basic minions augmented by each player's choice of henchfolk & commanders, and basic d6s (or the occasional d12) to drive its tunneling and invading action!
With a current roster of ten commanders and their henchfolk to choose from, there's a huge range of playstyles available, from the straightforward Guard Captain and their Mercenaries to the methodical Wizened Sage and their Trainee Wizards.
Future of the Project
While the game is fully functional at this stage, the assets for it are incredibly basic. Everything someone needs to play the game is available between the Core Rules, Minion Stats, and Asset Pack, but there's no "art" to it.
If there's enough interest in the game, I'd like to commission portraits of all of the commanders and their henchfolk to make their cards and tokens more attractive. Beyond that, improvements to the layout of all assets would be nice, but also hinge on player interest.
Additionally, the game is currently balanced around test games played amongst a very small group of people. While we're fairly confident that nothing is outright unfair, we could very well have missed something brilliant/broken that someone else will spot instantly! Please let us know if you find something like this, and we'll take a look at it for the next version.
