Inherited from Ottoman Turkish مسیح (mesih, anointed, an annointed one, the Messiah),[1] from Arabic مَسِيح (masīḥ, anointed, messiah, the Messiah), from Arabic مَسَحَ (masaḥa, to anoint).[2]
