[edit]Preposition
[edit]ann am (+ dative, no mutation, before the definite article anns, combined with the singular definite article sa, san, combined with the plural definite article sna)
- form of ann an (“in”) used before words beginning with b, f, m or p
- ann am baile ― in a town
- ann am bàtaichean ― in boats
Usage notes
[edit]- The am does not represent the definite article in this expression and does not change before plural nouns, for "in the" see anns, sa, san, sna.
- Sometimes am (“in”) is used on its own without the ann part.
