[edit]From Proto-Italic *solnos, from Proto-Indo-European *sol(h₂)nós, from *solh₂- (“whole”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ὅλος (hólos, “whole, entire, utter, perfect, complete”) and Sanskrit सर्व (sárva).
