Dress Smart is a franchise of shopping centres in New Zealand that specialises in outlet stores.
Auckland
[edit]Dress Smart Onehunga opened in 1995 as New Zealand's first factory outlet shopping centre. Onehunga was chosen for its central location and direct access from the city and the airport.[3] Initially, Dress Smart started with 20 outlet stores on the former premises of the 3 Guys supermarket and other surrounding retail spaces.[4] Following its opening, additional shops began operating in temporary premises on the southern side of Paynes Lane. This led to a significant expansion of the mall, completed in 2005, increasing the total number of retailers to 110.[5]
Dress Smart was previously owned by Prime Retail but sold to Australia's Lend Lease Corporation in 2010. LendLease are the current owner of Dress Smart NZ.[6]
Christchurch
[edit]Dress Smart Christchurch is located in Hornby, Christchurch.
Former Branches
[edit]There are a number of former branches across the country:
- Tawa, Wellington (opened 1999), now Outlet City
- Te Rapa, Hamilton (opened 2006), now The Base (shopping centre)
